A financial emergency shouldn't stand in the way of a student's future.

Thanks to support from the Ingram-White Castle Foundation, a Supporting Foundation of The Columbus Foundation , Ohio Reach is expanding emergency assistance for former foster care-connected students in Franklin County, helping address critical needs and keep students on track toward higher education success.📚🎓

Together, we're helping more young people work toward their academic and career goals.🤝

Recently, our Policy Associate Alex Gonia traveled to Baltimore, MD to join a national stakeholder meeting on federal foster care funding and oversight reforms hosted by the Bipartisan Policy Center and Annie E. Casey Foundation.👏

Over the course of the day, advocates, policy experts, and youth with lived experience from across the country came together to help chart a potential course for child welfare. The Alliance was able to share the strengths, challenges, and vulnerabilities in Ohio's system of care while learning from peers from around the nation and engaging in high-level system transformation.

Yesterday, leaders from Ohio’s child-serving and behavioral health organizations came together for the Alliance’s Leader Retreat to connect, learn, and explore new approaches to leading through change. 🌟

Through thoughtful discussion and practical exercises, participants examined strategies for strengthening teams, supporting workforce well-being, and building more resilient organizations.

Thank you to Dr. KC Montoya of Anew Behavioral Health for guiding the conversation and to all who joined us for a day dedicated to leadership, learning, and collaboration. 🤝

Through the newly funded Reading for Resiliency Initiative, the Ohio Children’s Alliance will help bring literacy-focused events, free books, and community resources to families across Ohio. 📚

By connecting literacy, behavioral health prevention, and family engagement, this initiative will create opportunities for children and caregivers to learn, connect, and thrive. 🪴🌟

The Ohio Children’s Alliance is offering incentive funding for eligible practitioners and provider agencies serving the Paint Valley, Logan-Champaign, and Belmont-Harrison-Monroe regions.

As Foster Care Awareness Month comes to a close, we’re grateful for everyone working each day to support children, youth, and families across Ohio. 💙

Thank you to foster caregivers, professionals, advocates, and community partners who continue to make a difference in the lives of young people.

While May is ending, the commitment to supporting children and families continues all year long.🤝

Through the current Fostering Futures culinary classes, young people are gaining practical skills, growing their confidence, and taking important steps toward independence. 🚀🌟

Participants are building workforce readiness through hands-on learning and skill development in areas like time management, financial literacy, resume building, and interview preparation.
