This week was the official start to one of our favorite details of the year: the Buckeye Girls State program. Our participation in this program affords us the opportunity to provide mentorship to the brilliant young adults attending as delegates. We are incredibly grateful to the American Legion of Ohio for allowing us to partner with them. So far, the delegates have participated a self-defense lesson, a K-9 demonstration, a PT and entrance exam, bonded over a team scavenger hunt and learned marching.

You may see extra travelers on motorcycles today for Ride to Work Day. Per the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 6,228 motorcyclists were killed on U.S. roads in 2024, making up 16% of all traffic fatalities. Drive responsibly: share the road, don’t speed, wear a helmet and always ride sober.

Earlier today, Trooper Debbie M. Delong, Capitol Operations, was recognized for her perfect score on the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Health and Physical Fitness Evaluation. Thousands of troopers have taken the Graded Exercise Test (GXT) over the years, but only 14 (including her) have gotten a perfect score of 500.
