Station 15 celebrates the promotion of our very own Captain Cory Yutzy. Congratulations Cory, we are all looking forward to seeing where you go from here. Continue to make the station proud!
Trying some different techniques when needing to stretch past our pre connected hand lines. In this evolution we pulled our 250ft 2in crosslay. Simulating a second floor fire, we advanced it to the base of the stairs where we needed to extend our line. This provided an area of refuge which is important when choosing a place to build your line.
We extended it with 150ft Gustin pack off of the bail from our 2in line.
This gave us more than enough line to make it to our target on the second floor.
Advantages
- easy to move the 2in line
- could fight fire with it if needed
- crews are more proficient at pulling an attack line then a larger supply type line.
Disadvantage
- not as much water as say a large trunk line
- if the bail from the 2in line is not secured, you could potentially lose flow in your attack line.
We have also been trying extending from a 3in trunk line (garden stretch) with a gated wye. Major disadvantage to that is once the trunk line is charged it is very difficult to move, you must be more accurate when estimating the stretch.
Please share any ideas your crews have worked on when extending lines.

Today is the last tour of a true leader, mentor, and brother—our 2 Unit Senior Man from Station 15.
After years of dedicated service, countless calls, long nights, and unwavering commitment to this job and this community, he’s hanging up the gear and starting a well-earned new chapter. His experience, steady presence, and leadership have shaped not only this station, but everyone who’s had the privilege to work alongside him.
He set the standard—on the fireground, in the station, and in the way he carried himself every single day. The lessons he’s passed down and the example he’s set will stick with us long after today.
Station 15 won’t be the same without him, but his impact will always be felt here.
Enjoy retirement—you’ve more than earned it. Thank you for everything, brother. Stay safe, stay healthy.

Today we want to recognize one of the true cornerstones of Station 15 — our 2-unit senior man, Firefighter David Burt.
David has consistently set the standard for what it means to be a senior firefighter. His leadership, work ethic, and commitment to the job have had a lasting impact not only within our house, but across the department. Whether it’s on the fireground, in the station, or during training, he leads by example every single day.
As an instructor with our training academy, David has played a major role in shaping the next generation of firefighters. His ability to teach, mentor, and push others to improve is second to none. Many of us are better firefighters today because of the time, knowledge, and effort he has invested in us.
Station 15 is proud to have him, and we are grateful for everything he brings to the job — professionalism, experience, and a dedication that doesn’t go unnoticed.
Thank you, David, for everything you’ve done and continue to do.

Today we recognize a big milestone for our family at Station 15.
After six and a half years of dedicated service as our Captain, Jason Bendure is being promoted to Battalion Chief.
During his time at Station 15, Jason has been more than just a captain—he’s been a steady leader, a trusted mentor, and someone who always led from the front. His guidance, work ethic, and commitment to both the job and the people around him have left a lasting impact on all of us.
While he will be greatly missed around the firehouse, this promotion is well earned and a true reflection of the respect he’s earned throughout his career. We’re proud to have served under him and know he’ll continue to do great things in his new role.
Congratulations, Chief Bendure—we wish you nothing but the best in this next chapter.

The crew did a great job. Definitely a different type of fire.
Today, our crews responded to a report of a fire on the 500 block of Linwood Avenue. Thanks to the quick actions of firefighters, everyone made it out safely, and we mean everyone.
In addition to the residents, crews helped bring out a full lineup of family pets: dogs, a cat, a snake… and the most unexpected rescue of the day, an iguana. It’s not every call where you go from grabbing leashes to carefully escorting reptiles, but our firefighters are ready for just about anything.
Today’s call could have ended very differently but we’re grateful this one concluded safely for every member of the household, whether they walk on two legs, four legs, slither, or bask under a heat lamp. Protecting life means all life.
