This month is National Safety Month, and this week's theme focuses on mental health and overall well-being.
In the EMS industry, the term burnout is something we hear all too often. Long shifts, difficult calls, emotional stress, and the responsibility of caring for others can take a toll on even the strongest providers. That's why it's so important to recognize the signs of burnout and take steps to care for ourselves just as we care for our patients.
We've created this informational flyer to provide resources, suggestions, and reminders for coping through tough times. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, stressed, or simply need a reminder to prioritize yourself, know that support is available and it's okay to ask for help.
Remember:
✔️ Take care of your mental health.
✔️ Prioritize rest and recovery.
✔️ Lean on your coworkers, friends, and family.
✔️ Utilize available resources when needed.
✔️ Check in on one another.
A healthy team is a safe team. By taking care of ourselves and supporting each other, we can continue providing exceptional care to the communities we serve.
You are not alone. 💚

When we think about safety, we often focus on physical injuries. But true safety includes our mental, emotional, and physical well-being.
This week, we're highlighting the importance of holistic worker health and encouraging everyone to prioritize their overall wellness. Whether you're working in healthcare, public safety, or any other profession, taking care of yourself is essential to performing at your best.
For EMS professionals, burnout is a very real challenge. Long hours, difficult calls, emotional stress, and the constant responsibility of caring for others can take a toll. Recognizing the signs of burnout, asking for help, taking time to recharge, and supporting one another are all important steps toward maintaining a healthy workforce.
You cannot pour from an empty cup. Taking care of yourself isn't selfish—it's necessary.
Together, let's continue building a culture where mental, emotional, and physical health are valued just as much as workplace safety.

During EMS Week, we asked our partners to share photos and stories highlighting the growth of their careers in EMS. Next, we're featuring Ricky Cole!
Ricky's journey is a great example of the many opportunities for growth within EMS and healthcare. He began his career as an EMT, serving patients on the front lines in our ambulances. Through hard work, dedication, and a passion for improving patient care, Ricky expanded into a marketing and outreach role, helping connect our organization with the communities we serve.
Today, Ricky serves as the Manager of Quality Analysis and Performance Improvement for both MedFlight and MedCare, where he plays a vital role in evaluating performance, identifying opportunities for improvement, and helping ensure we continue to provide exceptional patient care.
The photo Ricky shared takes us back to his earlier days in EMS and features him and his partner posing for a "serious" photo—though anyone who knows Ricky knows there was likely plenty of laughter behind the camera. It's a fun reminder of where his journey began and how far it has come.
From EMT to leadership, Ricky's career reflects the impact that dedication, continuous learning, and a commitment to excellence can have in this profession. His story is a reminder that EMS is more than a job—it's a career with countless opportunities to grow, lead, and make a difference.
Thank you, Ricky, for your dedication to our patients, our crews, and our organization. We're proud to have you on the team!
