We had a blast yesterday hosting the Cabarrus Economic Development Student TRACK Program! High schoolers from across Cabarrus County joined us to learn more about the variety of career opportunities with .

Our public safety teams showed off their equipment and shared more about what it takes to keep our city one of the safest around. The students took a tour of our Brown Operations Center where they heard from our public works departments and learned about the many things our crews do behind the scenes to keep our City running. City leadership and staff joined the students for lunch at City Hall where they chatted about their various career paths, offered advice to the students, and gave them a chance to ask questions. We finished the day with a tour of Concord-Padgett Regional Airport where the students got to check out our airport-specific fire trucks and see a few planes land and take off.

💓 There’s nothing we love more than sharing what we do with future generations and giving them a behind the scenes look at what it takes to make one of the best cities to live, work, and play!

Confused by what’s recyclable? If it’s a plastic bottle, jug, or jar, metal can, glass bottle or jar, or paper and cardboard - it’s safe to toss in your black recycling cart! Always remember to empty, rinse, and remove any pumps before tossing. When in doubt - throw it out!

If you’re still not sure, you can always look it up in the CARTology app. The CARTology app lets you search for recyclable items, look up your collection schedule, set reminders, and even play a fun waste-sorting game! Download it for free here 👉 ConcordNC.gov/WhatsMyDay

It’s Waste and Recycling Workers Week! This week, we’re celebrating the dedicated men and women of our Solid Waste Services team. They play a vital role in the quality of life we all enjoy and help keep our city looking its best.

While they take pride in serving all our residents, one of their favorite parts of the job is seeing the smiles, waves, and excitement from children along their routes. Those small moments remind them why they do what they do and make every day a little brighter.

To our garbage, recycling, yard and bulky waste crews: thank you for your hard work, dedication, and commitment to our community. Our city is a cleaner, more beautiful place because of you.

If you see them out and about this week, be sure to give them a wave as a token of appreciation for all they do! 👋🫶
