The Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office appreciated the opportunity to present our specialized units last week for Superheroes Camp at Mt. Pleasant Ninjas Taekwondo.
We always enjoy the opportunity to showcase how our specialized units serve and support the residents of Cabarrus County while sharing more about the important role they play in keeping our community safe.
Thank you for having us and allowing us to connect with youth in our community, teach more about what we do, and have a little fun along the way!

Today, the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office was reminded once again how fortunate we are to serve in a community that continually shows support and appreciation for the work our employees do each day.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Food Lion Corporate for taking the time to personally stop by our agency today to deliver cookies and store coupons for our employees. While the treats themselves were incredibly thoughtful and appreciated, the gesture behind them meant even more.
Acts of kindness and support from our community partners serve as an important reminder to our employees that the work they do each day is valued and appreciated. Gestures of encouragement and appreciation like this have a meaningful impact and remind our staff how fortunate we are to serve such a supportive community.
We are incredibly grateful for Food Lion’s generosity, partnership, and continued support of our agency.

The Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office Youth Development Division was excited to kick off the first week of Youth Summer Camp with rising 5th and 6th grade students from the schools our School Resource Officers serve throughout the year.
Throughout the week, campers built positive connections with our SROs while learning important safety lessons, situational awareness, and teamwork. Students also enjoyed daily activities including bowling, arcade games, mini golf, roller skating, trampoline park fun, and a movie day.
One of the most meaningful parts of camp is the opportunity for deputies and students to strengthen relationships outside of the classroom and continue building trust within our community.
This year, campers also participated in a community service project by collecting donations to support the Cabarrus County Animal Shelter.

🔒 June is Gun Violence Awareness Month, and the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office encourages responsible firearm storage and safe handling practices to help prevent theft, accidents, and fi****ms from falling into the wrong hands.
As summer travel increases, fi****ms left unsecured inside vehicles, especially overnight, can become targets for thieves and are often later used to commit crimes and acts of violence. Fi****ms should also always be stored safely at home and out of reach of children to help prevent accidental discharges.
As a responsible firearm owner:
• Avoid leaving fi****ms in vehicles overnight
• Always lock and secure fi****ms in a safe or lockbox
• Store fi****ms safely and out of reach of children
• Practice safe handling and firearm safety at all times
Responsible firearm ownership helps protect your family, your property, and our community.

Happy Flag Day!
Today, we recognize Flag Day, an annual observance honoring the United States flag and commemorating the Continental Congress’ adoption of the Stars and Stripes on June 14, 1777.
While the American flag has continued to evolve throughout our nation’s history, this day marked the adoption of the Stars and Stripes as the official flag of the United States.
The American flag serves as a symbol of our nation’s history, unity, freedom, and the sacrifices made by those who have served and continue serving our country and communities.

In recognition of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office reaffirms our commitment to protecting and supporting older adults throughout our community.
Not just today, but every day, we support that commitment through ongoing community outreach and education efforts focused on senior safety, situational awareness, scam prevention, and crime prevention to help reduce elder victimization.
Our deputies and divisions take an active role in serving and protecting older adults throughout Cabarrus County. Sgt. Wendy McGuire of our Training Division is especially passionate about elder abuse awareness and education through her involvement serving on the board of the Cabarrus Adult Protection Network for the past 15 years, helping strengthen community partnerships and resources available to seniors and caregivers.
Sgt. McGuire shared that she has a passion for helping seniors and children in our community, and that being part of a team that helps give a voice to older adults while supporting their caregivers is one of the things she loves most about her job.
World Elder Abuse Awareness Day serves as an important reminder to look out for older adults in our communities, recognize the signs of abuse or exploitation, and continue working together to help keep seniors safe.

As summer temperatures rise, the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control Division wants to remind residents that a vehicle can become dangerously hot within minutes, even with the windows cracked.
Unless your plans involve a pet-friendly destination such as a veterinarian appointment, dog park, or another pet-centered activity, please consider leaving your pets safely at home.
Every summer, animals suffer serious medical emergencies and even death after being left inside hot vehicles for “just a few minutes.” Pets rely entirely on their owners to protect them from these dangerous conditions.
In addition to placing your pet’s life at risk, leaving an animal in a hot vehicle may result in:
• Cruelty to animal charges
• Seizure of the animal
• Emergency measures taken to remove the pet from the vehicle, which may also result in damage to the vehicle
If you see an animal in distress inside a hot vehicle, call 911 immediately.
