This National AccessAbility Week, we’re reminded that creating a barrier-free Canada starts with listening and taking action.
Recent findings show that people with disabilities and long-term conditions continue to face barriers in everyday activities like travel. These barriers, including physical accessibility challenges and gaps in services, limit independence and full participation.
This highlights the need for continued action and ongoing engagement with the disability community to shape initiatives like the Canada Disability Benefit, using lived experiences to create more inclusive and responsive programs. Accessibility isn’t a single solution, it’s a shared commitment to a more inclusive Canada. This week and beyond, let’s continue working toward a country where everyone can move, participate and thrive without barriers. 💙
