Not every graduate gets asked to speak.

Congratulations to Lee Pierson, Chief of our Mental Health Division, on graduating from the Dallas County Leadership and Management Academy and on being selected by his classmates and instructors as the program’s graduation speaker.

The academy demands a significant investment of time and effort, and Lee completed it while leading one of the divisions in our office. His selection as speaker reflects the leadership, dedication, and respect he earned throughout the program.

We’re incredibly proud of this well-deserved achievement. Please join us in congratulating Lee.

🎉💙 Dallas County DIVERT Court celebrated National Treatment Court Month by honoring recovery, recognizing participant achievements, and thanking two extraordinary leaders for their service.

This year's event also marked an opportunity to celebrate Judge Garza and Judge Vanegas as they prepare to conclude their service with the program. Their dedication, leadership, and compassion have helped change lives and strengthen families throughout their time with DIVERT Court.

Founded in 1998 by Dallas County District Attorney John Creuzot, DIVERT Court has helped thousands of individuals find a path to recovery through treatment, accountability, and support.

Hosted at APAA, the celebration featured an inspiring commencement address from Brian Cuban and welcomed District Attorney Creuzot as participants, graduates, and staff came together to celebrate perseverance, recovery, and success.

Thank you to everyone who has helped make DIVERT Court a life-changing program for nearly 30 years.

District Attorney John Creuzot announced the first Dallas County prosecution under Texas’ fentanyl murder statute.

The statute was enacted in 2023 and reclassified fentanyl-related overdose deaths as “poisonings” and created the offense of fentanyl murder, allowing individuals who distribute fentanyl resulting in death to be charged with homicide.

🎨💙 Recovery is more than a destination -- it's a journey of growth, resilience, and hope.

This National Treatment Court Month, Dallas County AIM Court participants shared their stories through artwork, poetry, and video as part of the "Art of Recovery" initiative. Their creative submissions offered powerful reflections on recovery and the positive changes they are making in their lives.

The celebration also extended to Dallas County Commissioners Court, where AIM Court staff Maegan Westbrook, George Johnson, Miguel Medrano, and Brianna Gordon proudly accepted a resolution from Commissioner Dr. Theresa M. Daniel recognizing National Treatment Court Month and the life-changing impact of treatment courts.

We are honored to celebrate the achievements of our participants and the dedication of the AIM Court team as they continue to support recovery, restore lives, and strengthen our community.
