Ready to take the next step toward homeownership?

BCL of Texas is hosting a FREE HUD-approved Homebuyer Education Course for Dallas residents on Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 9:00 AM–2:00 PM at the J. Erik Jonsson Central Library (Harmon Training Room), 1515 Young St.

The workshop will cover important homebuyer topics including budgeting, credit, mortgage readiness, shopping for a home, down payment assistance, and more. Participants who complete the course will receive a Certificate of Completion.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

The City of Dallas will conduct mosquito control spraying in a portion of District 13 after mosquito samples tested positive for West Nile Virus.

Residents in the affected area are encouraged to take precautions against mosquito bites and continue practicing the β€œDrain, Dress, Defend” approach:

β€’ Drain standing water around your home
β€’ Dress in long sleeves and pants when possible
β€’ Defend yourself with EPA-approved insect repellent

MOSQUITO SPRAYING NOTICE – DISTRICT 13

The City of Dallas is scheduled to conduct mosquito control spraying for mosquito abundance on Wednesday, June 17, and Thursday, June 18, between 9:00 PM and 5:00 AM, weather permitting.

Affected areas include:
β€’ College Park area near Hockaday Drive, Midway Road, Welch Road, and Crooked Lane
β€’ Northaven area near Del Roy Drive, Inwood Road, Quincy Lane, and Springmeadow Drive

Residents in these areas are encouraged to remain indoors while spraying is underway and take precautions to avoid contact with the spray.

Help prevent mosquito breeding by eliminating standing water around your home, including in birdbaths, flower pots, gutters, pet dishes, and other containers.

Bluff View Playground is temporarily closed due to damage to the shade structure that must be repaired before the playground can safely reopen.

Dallas Park and Recreation is working to address the issue and will provide updates as they become available. Notifications will also be posted through the Dallas Park and Recreation website and Nextdoor.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as repairs are completed. We will share reopening information as soon as it is available.
