Ashley Henson, Sheriff

The primary purpose of the Sheriff’s Office is to maintain social order within prescribed ethical and constitutional limits, while providing professional law enforcement services to all. To attain this, the Department enforces the law in a fair and impartial manner, recognizing both the statutory and judicial limitations of Sheriffs’ authority and the constitutional rights of all persons. Sheriff Ashley Henson is excited to launch C.H.A.M.P.S. (Choosing Healthy Activities and Methods Promoting Safety), our new student education program as part of the Georgia Sheriffs' Association that will replace D.A.R.E.

C.H.A.M.P.S. teaches real-life skills like making good choices, handling stress, preventing bullying, staying safe at home, and learning that every choice has a consequence. But we’re not keeping C.H.A.M.P.S. just inside the school. Our deputies have already hit the ground running this summer, partnering with camps, daycares, churches, and youth groups all across Paulding County. From kindness, teamwork, and respect for our youngest learners to 911 safety, stranger awareness, and personal responsibility for older students, C.H.A.M.P.S. grows right alongside our kids.

The best part? It gives our deputies the chance to build relationships with the next generation before they ever need us on their worst day. We're here to mentor, encourage, answer questions, hand out a few high-fives, and help our kids succeed.

Because investing in our community starts with investing in our kids.

Good morning, Shug.

Just a couple of things:

Some of y’all really showed your behind yesterday.

Some of y’all need to brush those teeth instead of deciding what makes a holiday a holiday.

Do y’all think Cook Out should come to Hiram?

Oh—watch how you talk to people, especially in this heat.

This is us reading your comments from yesterday.

Take care.

We honor those who came before us and reaffirm our commitment to serving all members of our community with fairness, dignity, and respect.

Our team has been working around the clock to put these four people right where they belong. Many of you had questions last night after our post about the suspects involved in the shooting. We kept the information limited for one reason: we knew exactly what this crew was up to. The process worked, and tonight—less than 24 hours later—they are right where they need to be.

Deputies were called to the area near 107 Chamberlyn Lane in Hiram after reports that a person had been shot. When Deputies arrived, they located a young man who had been shot in the chest. Investigators believe the victim had been meeting with the individuals responsible in order to purchase a THC (ma*****na) v**e.

During that interaction, the suspects fired at the victim twice. The victim ran off before collapsing in the street, and when the Fire Department arrived, he was not breathing.

In the hours that followed, the Sheriff’s Office launched a large-scale response that included the Criminal Investigations Division, Crime Scene Investigators, Patrol Deputies, Warrants, Intelligence, Drug Task Force Agents and SWAT.

Investigators reviewed video from nearby residents, including Ring doorbell footage and Flock camera systems, which helped identify the truck that left the scene and led to the license plate information.

Early this morning, SWAT served a search warrant at the home associated with the vehicle.

As a result of that operation, three of the four individuals wanted in connection with the homicide were arrested. The fourth suspect was taken into custody later today.

The Sheriff’s Office extends its deepest condolences to the family of the young man who lost his life.

Honoring 250 Years of America

You may notice something a little different on our deputies’ uniforms.

In honor of America’s upcoming 250th birthday, Paulding County Sheriff’s Office deputies are now authorized to wear a special Semiquincentennial Badge for the remainder of the year.

This commemorative badge honors the founding of our great nation, the freedoms we hold dear, and the generations of men and women who have served and sacrificed to protect them.

We are proud to wear this symbol as we celebrate the red, white, and blue while continuing to serve the citizens of Paulding County.

God bless America, and God bless Paulding County.

May kept us busy!

Deputies answered calls, checked neighborhoods, served warrants, made traffic stops, and helped folks who needed us.

Now that summer is here, let’s all make good choices. It’s hot, it’s muggy, and nobody needs extra drama in this Georgia humidity.

Have a good summer, y’all. Stay safe, drink water, and behave just enough.
