Just a reminder, and yes we approve this message,......WE STILL AIN'T FREE! As you celebrate "freedom from slavery" on today, remember that black voices are being suppressed and denied at the polls and that over 100,000 people are incarcerated in Georgia with another 375,000 on probation and parole, subjecting them to be worked for FREE and legally used as slaves while local and state governments and thousands of companies profit from their free labor! Yep! Incarcerated Georgians aren't paid but cities and prisons are making billions off of every body that is locked up! Don't believe us? Google "lock up quotas".
Incarcerated workers aren't the only ones being stolen from! Guess who else is NOT receiving money from the labor of incarcerated workers? Children who are owed child support, families raising the children of incarcerated who could use some help, victims who are owed restitution don't see a dime and the IRS and the Department of Education don't get those owed federal taxes or student loans repaid!
So you see, we still ain't free if we are being denied fair democracy and representation, equitable housing and healthcare and if half of our community members and neighbors are in chains and the goal is not to rehabilitate but to make a profit!

Join us on July 7th on Zoom at 6pm EST for the kickoff to our 10th annual Reentry Awareness Month!
We are amplifying the critical need of the media to reframe crime reporting with dignity by hosting "Beyond “Felon” & "Inmate": A Call for Media to Transform Crime Reporting Through Humanizing Language", a free webinar and panel discussion to bring together journalists, advocates, communications professionals and directly impacted individuals to examine how language and dehumanizing labels shape public perception, influence support for harmful criminal justice policies and reinforce biases, stigma, discrimination and denial of access to resources. We will explore the impact of dehumanizing labels in crime reporting, learn the principles of person-centered language and discuss practical strategies for journalists to produce more accurate, ethical and equitable journalism by prioritizing humanity over harmful headlines.
The conversation will challenge media professionals to go beyond labels, understand that words can be harmful, know that people are more than their mugshots, recognize the lasting consequences of the words they choose and encourage a shift toward reporting that acknowledges the humanity, dignity, and complexity of people impacted by the criminal legal system by reporting people, not labels.
Special Guests

We want to call Georgia residents and encourage them to increase awareness of the special session by contacting their local state senator and / or other local elected officials.

We just earned our Platinum Seal of Transparency from Candid! The Platinum Seal is the highest and most rigorous seal recognition offered by Candid (formerly GuideStar). Fewer than one percent of U.S.-based nonprofits achieve Platinum status in any given year.
Transparency and trust are essential to the work we do and it isn’t a one-time achievement, it’s an ongoing commitment! The Platinum Seal makes it easy for supporters to know that we are a legit, registered and transparent organization and allows the public to explore our work, track our impact and see how their financial contributions create real change for Georgians impacted by an arrest, conviction or incarceration! This designation reflects our commitment to sharing clear, accurate, and up-to-date information about our leadership, mission, programs, impact, and financial stewardship and shows our donors, funders, and community partners that NewLife-Second Chance Outreach, Inc. goes beyond basic reporting to provide the public with detailed information about our mission, programs, finances, governance, and impact.
Therefore, when you donate to us, you can rest assured that your donations are used appropriately, efficiently, effectively, and transparently to accomplish our mission for those we serve throughout the state of Georgia.
