π Happy Father's Day from the City of Lancaster! π
This Father's Day, we celebrate the fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, mentors and father figures who help shape our families and strengthen our community.
Earlier this week, Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Betty Gooden-Davis honored the fathers at the Senior Life Center, recognizing their dedication, wisdom and lasting impact on generations of Lancaster residents.
As we reflect on the importance of fatherhood, we encourage everyone to take time to honor the men in our lives we proudly call Dad. Whether through a phone call, a visit, a shared meal or a simple thank you, let them know how much they are appreciated.
To all the dads who lead with love, sacrifice and strength β thank you for all that you do. Happy Father's Day! π

On June 20, 2010, Lancaster Police Officer Craig L. Shaw responded to an active shooting at a local apartment complex where a civilian had already been tragically killed.
As one of the first to arrive, he immediately moved toward the danger, placing himself between a violent threat and the community he swore to protect.
Engaging the suspect, Officer Shaw was fatally wounded in the ensuing confrontation. Through his extraordinary bravery and selfless service, he made the ultimate sacrifice for the citizens of Lancaster.
Officer Shaw was posthumously promoted to the rank of Sergeant. His legacy of courage, honor, and dedication continues to inspire all who follow in his footsteps.
He will be forever remembered.

β€οΈπ€π Happy Juneteenth from the City of Lancaster! β€οΈπ€π
On June 19, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued, enslaved people in Texas finally learned they were free when Union troops arrived in Galveston and announced General Order No. 3. This historic moment became known as Juneteenth, a powerful reminder that freedom delayed is still worth celebrating and protecting.
As Texans, we hold a special connection to this day. Juneteenth is a time to honor the resilience, strength and perseverance of those who endured hardship while continuing to hope for a brighter future.
Today, we celebrate freedom, reflect on our shared history and recognize the generations who helped shape our communities and our nation.
From all of us at the City of Lancaster, we wish you a meaningful and joyful Juneteenth.
Celebrate freedom. Celebrate progress. Celebrate community.
