Our members have played key roles in electing Democrats, especially Women, in Dallas County. Women & men join for monthly meetings, a bi-monthly book club, a monthly movie/dinner club and two parties a year to bring Democrats in North Dallas together to get to know one another and to actively participate in Turning Texas Blue! Today is Juneteenth, a day that commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States.
It marks the day in 1865 when Union General Gordon Granger announced that all enslaved people were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
Juneteenth has since evolved into a celebration of African American culture, heritage, and progress.
