Murphy is just over 5 sq miles with a population of 22,866. This eastern Collin County city has a highly educated and diverse population.

Residents enjoy 10 public parks, numerous city events and a commercial corridor with over 70 places to eat & drink. In 2005, the current Municipal Complex housing City Hall, the Police Department, the Fire Department, and the Parks and Public Works Building was opened. 🚧 Construction Notice: Renner Road & Tall Tree Drive 🚧

Beginning Monday June 22, work will start on intersection improvements at Renner Road and Tall Tree Drive. Construction is expected to continue through late October.

During this time, drivers can expect temporary traffic pattern changes on eastbound Renner Road at South Murphy Road. Access to Timbers No. 6 Phase III will also be modified, with the current subdivision exit temporarily serving as both the entrance and exit.

Please follow posted traffic control signs and use caution when traveling through the area.

🚧 Sidewalk Replacement Project 🚧

Heads up! From June 22–26, contractors will be replacing sidewalk panels at several locations along South Murphy Road between Skyline Drive and Renner Road, including an area just north of 102 N. Murphy Road.

Drivers may encounter periodic right-lane closures during construction. Please use caution and follow posted traffic control signs when traveling through the area.

Congratulations to Ilan Shalev on completing the training and certification required to officially serve as Murphy’s Fire Inspector/Investigator.

Introducing the City of Murphy's Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 Taxpayer Receipt tool, an easy way to see how the City's portion of your property taxes and sales taxes supports the services you rely on every day.

From public safety and parks to streets and other essential City services, the Taxpayer Receipt provides a personalized look at how your dollars are allocated using the preliminary tax rate currently being discussed as part of the FY 2027 budget process.

For homeowners, simply enter your home's value to see your estimated contribution. For residents who do not own a home, the tool also demonstrates how your sales tax dollars help fund City services.

City offices will be closed Friday, June 19, 2026, in observance of Juneteenth. Offices will reopen at regularly scheduled times on Monday, June 22, 2026.

There will be no impact on solid waste collection due to this closure.
