375+ creative leaders made it out to Trinidad!

Last week, Colorado’s creative community gathered in Create Trinidad Creative District for the 2026 CCI Summit.

Together, we explored the future of arts, culture, community development, film, creative districts, entrepreneurship, and placemaking across Colorado. We learned from one another, celebrated achievements, and strengthened connections that will continue long after the Summit ends.

Thank you to every attendee, presenter, partner, sponsor, volunteer, artist, performer, venue, and community member who helped make this gathering possible.

The energy, generosity, and creativity shared throughout Trinidad reminded us that creativity lives in every corner of Colorado.

We’re grateful you were part of it. 💙

As we look forward, CCI plans to move to a biennial schedule and our next CCI Summit will take place in 2028 in Estes Arts District. The updated model reflects the growth of the Summit and our commitment to investing in high-quality convening that foster professional development, collaboration and relationship building across the state’s creative sector! Stay tuned for more updates!

Thank you Nathan K and those that submitted your memories on the Whova app!

Transforming Communities Through Art

Congratulations to Brendt Berger and Maria Cocchiarelli-Berger, recipients of the 2026 Governor’s Creative Leadership Award for Arts and Creative Placemaking.

For nearly two decades, Brendt and Maria have demonstrated how the arts can strengthen communities, spark civic engagement, and drive economic revitalization in rural Colorado. Through the Museum of Friends in Walsenburg, they have created far more than a museum—they’ve built a gathering place where art, education, activism, and community come together.

From public art installations and youth-centered projects to exhibitions, partnerships, and community programs, their work continues to show how creativity can reimagine places and empower people.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 2026 Governor’s Creative Leadership Awards at the Colorado Creative Industries Summit in Trinidad. As we celebrate the final day of the Summit, we’re honored to recognize the artists, leaders, advocates, and changemakers who are strengthening Colorado’s creative communities every day.
