Yesterday was Bike to Work Day and our community really showed up! 🚲💙 Catholic Charities Samaritan House Fort Collins welcomed 275 cyclists for a morning filled with community, connection and faith. Deacon Greg from St. Joseph Catholic Church offered bike blessings, volunteers stopped by to lend their support and cyclists entered our door prize drawing. Cyclists also shared their prayer intentions on our prayer request board, creating a meaningful opportunity to pause, reflect and pray together. We are so grateful to everyone who rode, volunteered and helped make the day such a success. Events like Bike to Work Day remind us of the incredible support we receive from our community and the opportunity to share hope, one ride at a time. This year, Catholic Charities Samaritan House is celebrating 40 years of serving Colorado. Since opening its doors in 1986, the shelter has expanded to five locations across the state. Today, Samaritan House Fort Collins alone provides more than 30,000 nights of shelter each year and is supported by more than 4,000 volunteer hours annually, making a lasting difference in the lives of individuals and families experiencing homelessness. When Nathan was just 3 years old, he noticed a diaper collection at his parish and asked how he could help. That simple question sparked a journey of service that has lasted nearly a decade. From sorting diapers and supporting parish drives to encouraging other children to get involved, Nathan and his family have faithfully supported Catholic Charities Marisol Family and the families we serve. Now 14 years old, Nathan continues to live out the values of faith, compassion and generosity that have guided him since childhood. His story is a powerful reminder that no act of service is too small—and that when we teach children to serve others, we help build a more caring community for generations to come. Because of YOU, volunteers, donors and parish partners like Nathan and his family, Catholic Charities Marisol Family serves more than 61,000 children each year and distributes over 2.2 million diapers to families across Colorado. We are grateful to United Way 2-1-1 and resource database supervisor Jessica for sharing valuable information with Catholic Charities Early Childhood Education and Catholic Charities Housing teams during a recent training. Team members learned more about the wide range of resources available through 2-1-1, how to connect families and individuals with support services and how to partner with United Way navigators to better serve our community. Strong partnerships like these help Catholic Charities connect children, families, seniors, veterans and individuals experiencing housing instability with the resources they need to thrive. Whether it’s affordable housing, early childhood education, food assistance, mental health support or emergency services, collaboration strengthens our ability to walk alongside our neighbors on their journey toward stability and success. Thank you, Jessica and United Way 2-1-1, for sharing tools and resources that make a difference every day. 💙

We were delighted to welcome a college volunteer group from Texas to Catholic Charities Marisol Health Denver! đź’› These dedicated students generously gave their time and energy by pulling weeds, writing heartfelt thank-you cards and lending a helping hand wherever needed. More importantly, they brought enthusiasm, compassion and a genuine commitment to serving others. Volunteers like these make a tremendous impact across Catholic Charities ministries. What started as a parenting class became something much more. 💙 At Catholic Charities Samaritan House, five moms came together for a six-week parenting program led by onsite therapist Jessica. Through weekly lessons, honest conversations and shared experiences, they gained valuable parenting tools—but perhaps even more importantly, they found community.
“It built a community,” participant Kara shared. “Before the class, if I saw another mom sitting by herself in the cafeteria, I probably would’ve just walked by. Now we sit together. We check on each other.” Since 1986, Samaritan House has provided shelter, support and hope to individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Programs like this parenting cohort help strengthen families, build connections and remind parents that they don’t have to navigate life’s challenges alone. At Catholic Charities Samaritan House, a former room tucked behind the women’s singles dorm has been transformed into a beautiful Mother’s Room—a peaceful, welcoming space where mothers can care for, feed and bond with their babies in comfort and privacy. This inspiring project was led by Macy, a parishioner at Our Lady of Lourdes and member of the Denver Home Builders Association, whose vision and dedication brought the space to life. We are deeply grateful to the many partners, donors and volunteers who made this transformation possible, including the Denver Home Builders Association, Kimberly Timmons Interiors, Phoenix Drywall, Sherwin-Williams and the many industry and community partners who generously contributed their time, talents and resources. Together, they created more than a room—they created a place of dignity, hope and support for the mothers and babies we serve at Samaritan House. For more than 40 years, Catholic Charities Samaritan House has provided shelter, stability and support to women, children, families and veterans experiencing homelessness. What began with one Samaritan House shelter in Denver has expanded to five locations across Colorado, serving thousands of individuals and families each year.
