We are deeply saddened over the sudden passing of our dear colleague and friend, R.J. Ours - Colorado Government Relations Director.
R.J. served for over two decades as a leading advocate who ensured all Coloradans have a fair and equitable chance to fight cancer. His voice was critical in advancing cancer prevention and treatment, statewide. Because of R.J.’s work, to***co prevention and control laws in Colorado are stronger, and more residents have access to care, including Medicaid.
R.J. Ours was an extraordinary member of the ACS CAN family who inspired many others through his commitment to our organization’s mission and was steadfast in his desire to make a difference for cancer patients, survivors, and their loved ones. Even more, he was an incredible person who led with compassion, integrity, and kindness.
We send our deepest condolences to the Ours family and loved ones during this very difficult and unexpected time. We look forward to honoring his life and upholding his commitment to ending cancer as we know it.

If Congress fails to act, cancer patients like Bethany could have their affordable health insurance terminated and lose access to lifesaving treatments. Has affordable health care helped you get and afford the health care you need?

A special congratulations to Congresswoman , who received the National Distinguished Advocacy Award at the Leadership Summit and Lobby Day.
A longstanding champion of cancer research, Rep. DeGette introduced and helped pass the 21st Century Cures Act, which was signed into law by President Obama. Since 2019, she has worked to expand this effort with the Cures Act 2.0. This legislation would further strengthen America’s biomedical research.
Rep. DeGette is the ranking member of the Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health. Additionally, she was the lead sponsor of the VALID Act of 2023, which aims to improve how the FDA regulates clinical lab diagnostics.
