Construction is officially underway at Creekside Flats on the border of West Denver and Jefferson County, a future community of 150 new affordable homes!
DOLA joined Archway Communities today to break ground on the future community at the site of the former Jody Apartments. DOLA’s Division of Housing invested $1.95 million toward the project’s construction with a Housing Development Grant.
“What DOLA sees in Creekside Flats is a model for how to transform a building in disrepair into dignified homes that serve the people who keep our city and our state thriving,” DOLA Executive Director Maria De Cambra remarked at the groundbreaking. She further noted that the project stood out to DOLA because of its strategic design, commitment to families, and holistic approach to community health.
DOLA staff Theresa Cassano, Sasha Neal, and Shannon Gray joined Director De Cambra onsite for the ceremony, and DOH team members Shirley Diaz and Andrew Kaczka also played major roles in the project.
Thank you again to all partners who saw this vision through, and to today’s speakers: Laura Brudzynski (President and CEO, Archway Communities), The City of Denver Mayor Mike Johnston, Thomas Bryan (Executive Director and CEO, Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA)), Jefferson County Colorado Government Commissioner Rachel Zenzinger for Colorado, and Autumn Buehler (Director of Property Operations, Urban Land Conservancy).

Congratulations to Hinsdale County, Colorado on your brand new County Operations Building! 👏
Yesterday, DOLA's Division of Local Government Director Eric Bergman, Northwest Regional Manager Dana Hlavac, and Communications Manager Veronika Hewitt joined Hinsdale County Commissioners and Lake City Officials to cut the ribbon on the new building that centralizes public safety and critical public services.
DOLA is proud to provide over $1 million in funding for this new facility through an Energy/Mineral Impact Assistance Fund grant. The building will provide space for the Hinsdale County Sheriff and Board of County Commissioners, which will:
• Improve service delivery
• Meet modern law enforcement standards
• Increase opportunities for community engagement
It took a great team of local, state, and federal partners to make this project a reality. Thank you to everyone involved, especially Commissioners Robert Hurd, Greg Levine, Kristine Borchers!

DOLA’s Division of Housing joined Housing Catalyst yesterday in Fort Collins to break ground on Village on Eastbrook, a future 73-unit, intergenerational community!
Village on Eastbrook will offer affordable homes for residents earning 30 to 80 percent of the Area Median Income (AMI)— that means a family of four earning between $39,120 - $104,320 would qualify.
DOLA is proud to support this project with a $995,000 Housing Development Grant. In addition to offering Fort Collins residents more affordable places to call home, Village on Eastbrook will be fully electric and feature over 700 solar panels!
“This is a prime example of how to build smart, build for everyone, and build for the future,” Division of Housing Director Tyler Jaeckel highlighted at the groundbreaking ceremony.
Congratulations to our partners at Housing Catalyst, and to DOH Team Members Matt Long, Elisa Blakeney, and Andy Kaczka for your dedication to this project!

Welcome, Town of Timnath, as a newly designated Colorado Main Street! 👏
Timnath joins 31 other Colorado communities participating in the Colorado Main Street program housed within the Division of Local Government’s Community Development Office.
The numbers prove the impact of the community-led, downtown revitalization this program supports. In 2025 alone, Colorado Main Street communities saw:
• 87 new businesses open
• 303 new jobs created
• Over $159 million invested through public-private partnerships
Another reason we’re celebrating the Main Street Program: 18 Colorado communities have achieved the highest National Main Street designations for 2026. This accredited designation means each local program met rigorous standards in its work in revitalizing downtown districts and supporting small businesses.
Congratulations to Timnath and the Colorado communities that achieved National Main Street designation! We’re here to support you as you embrace, enhance, and preserve the elements that make your towns so special.

Congratulations to our partners at Habitat for Humanity for breaking ground on “The Prosper,” a future community of 40 affordable, for-sale condos in Golden! 🎉
DOLA is proud to invest over $3 million in this project that represents a critical step forward in addressing the needs of affordable and attainable homeownership options.
At last week's groundbreaking, DOLA Executive Director Maria De Cambra shared why this project is so critical:
“The Prosper is aptly named—it is really about prosperity, bringing a valuable asset to Golden and seeing residents thrive. To achieve prosperity in the housing space we MUST have stability, quality, and affordability. For far too many Coloradans, the stability of owning a home has become unreachable due to rising market-rate prices. This development directly confronts that challenge.”
Thank you to everyone who attended the ceremony and made this project possible, including Jamie Gomez (CEO, Habitat Denver), Mayor of Golden Laura Weinberg, Thomas Bryan (CEO, Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) ), and Bethany Thomas (Calvary Church).

DOLA’s Division of Local Government (DLG) team is in Summit County this week for the Colorado Counties, Inc. Foundation Summer Conference!
DOLA’s Regional Managers used time at the conference to meet with representatives from their respective regions to listen to local needs and provide important updates from DOLA.
This was also Regional Manager Patrick Rondinelli’s last event as a DOLA employee, as he soon moves on to a new role as the Town of Telluride CO - Government's Deputy Town Manager after nine years of service with us. We can’t wait to reconnect with him in his new capacity!
Thank you to CCI and Executive Director Kelly Flenniken for hosting yet another fantastic conference! Our team has appreciated the opportunity to connect with local electeds, share ideas, and continue our collective work to strengthen Colorado communities.
