Big news for Colorado!
HB26-1142, a bill that strengthens the statutory definition and establishes key protections for Child Advocacy Centers (CACs), has officially been signed into law by the Governor!
This milestone reflects a year of advocacy and collaboration from partners, professionals, and policymakers who are committed to improving Colorado's response to child abuse.
HB26-1142 had incredible support at the Capitol, passing each chamber unanimously and picking up an additional 44 cosponsors along the way.
A huge thank you to our bill sponsors: Representative Rick Taggart, Speaker Pro Tempore Andrew Boesenecker, Senator Dylan Roberts, and Senator Matt Ball. Your advocacy on this bill will have a lasting impact on Colorado's children, and we are honored to have your support. Thank you also to every legislator who voted to support this legislation and who signed on as a cosponsor.
