Every year during Iowa Girls and Boys state we invite the candidates for Secretary of State to participate in a special tradition. Candidates get the opportunity to sit at my desk and place a phone call to home using the official SOS desk line.
We were able to welcome Cameron, Kathleen, Margaret, Noel, Emma, Nate, Ally, Aahaha, and Brenna!

Family-owned businesses are generations of hard work, risk-taking, and commitment to their communities.
I was pleased to attest to Governor Kim Reynolds' proclamation recognizing June 22-26 as Family Owned and Operated Businesses Week in Iowa. We celebrate the families who help drive Iowa’s economy, create jobs, and strengthen communities across our state. Thank you for the lasting impact you make every day.

I am saddened to hear about the loss of eight brave Americans earlier this week, including Iowa's own Major Brad Hovey. Major Hovey was a pilot with the 419th Flight Test Squadron at Edwards Air Force Base and a native of Algona, Iowa. I ask Iowans to join me in lifting up Major Hovey's friends and family in prayer as they navigate this profound loss, and to keep in our hearts the families of all eight Americans we lost on June 15.
