Bob and I are heartbroken to learn of the loss of US Air Force Major and Iowa native Brad Hovey in the B-52 crash at Edwards Air Force Base. As we honor his service to our nation, we send our prayers and condolences to his family, friends, and fellow service members.

It was an honor to be part of Leif Olson’s investiture ceremony as U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Iowa. I’m confident he will lead with integrity, professionalism, and dedication to the rule of law.

Bob and I are saddened by the passing of Senator Julian Garrett. Throughout his career, Senator Garrett faithfully served Iowans, leading the Consumer Protection Division in the Attorney General’s Office before representing his community in the Iowa House and later the Iowa Senate. We are grateful for his service and extend our thoughts and prayers to his wife, Nancy, and the entire Garrett family during this difficult time.

Grateful for a productive visit to Clinton this week. Meeting with Iowans in every county is invaluable, and it was great to see firsthand how local law enforcement utilizes its training center and how county leaders are working together to solve problems and serve their communities.

Grateful to tour Adair County’s new EMS station in Greenfield and hear how the team rebuilt after the EF4 tornado destroyed their former facility. Their resilience is inspiring, and their hospitality even included some crawfish for lunch!

Bob and I are praying for everyone involved and for the first responders on the scene.
