Iowa used to be #1 in education. Now, because of 10 years of republican control, we've fallen to the bottom half. It's time to make Iowa schools the best in the country again.

The fight for cleaner water led to action this year, but there is still more work ahead to protect Iowa's water.

It’s a post-cancer check in day!

Got to meet my new Cardio-Oncologist (Dr Campbell retired) during my cardio visit (she was wonderful, but I may have to add a new medication in 😔). I also had a visit to the lab for my Signatera check in, and finished with a visit with my oncologist, Dr Stroh (and then I’ll head back in July for my next MRI).

I love that Hall-Perrine stacks appointments so you can get multiple appointments completed on the same day. I know everyone, particularly those in rural areas do not always have that luxury.

While getting to get all my visits done on the same day is nice, the ongoing medical expenses from having cancer is not nice. Even with insurance all the follow up care becomes a financial burden and something that I personally worry about every day. Once again I have it good, as many Iowans are not insured at all or underinsured while going through cancer care.

We took some steps this session to address cancer, but it is still not enough.

It is disappointing that Governor Reynolds is partnering with Cognizant Technology Solutions, whose executives were charged with foreign bribery in 2019."

For years, Iowa House Democrats stood alongside Iowans in the fight for cleaner water. Earlier this session, we introduced the Iowa Healthy Water Act to address Iowa’s growing water quality challenges. Thanks to the voices of Iowans and the persistence of House Democrats, we saw real action this year with a meaningful first step toward cleaner, healthier water for communities across our state.

Wonderful brunch in Ames with an incredible group of women uplifting one another while sharing great food and thoughtful conversation about the issues that matter most to our community.
