This past week, Holmes Murphy came to volunteer at CISS twice! While serving lunch two days in a row, they also helped sort & cut fruit and helped cleaning up!

Following his recent deployment, Lex has generously volunteered his time at the shelter, assisting with a variety of tasks, including helping in the kitchen, playing cards with clients in the day room, and supporting daily operations in countless ways!

Meet Floyd:
Floyd Cross, a former professional boxer who fought from 1971 to 1982, has endured a lifetime of hardship, from childhood loss and foster care to incarceration—but continues to rise with resilience and wisdom. After arriving at CISS, he found stability, independence, and a life-changing connection with a mentor who saw him for who he is, not his past. Now, at nearly 79, Floyd is focused on growth, faith, and the time he still has ahead—proving that no matter where life begins, it is never too late to keep moving forward.
