Photos from Clinton County Sheriff's Office Iowa's post 06/22/2026

For more than 50 years, she was known only as “Jane Doe 1975.”
Thanks to the tireless work of investigators with the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation Major Crime Unit, and partners in forensic genetic genealogy, the victim has now been identified as 15-year-old Cheryl Lynn Edwards of Waukegan, Illinois.
While Cheryl’s name has been restored, the search for answers continues.
Investigators are seeking information about Cheryl’s life, disappearance, friends, associates, and activities leading up to her death in 1975. Even the smallest detail could help.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office. Details in the release.
