The Wiregrass Public Safety Academy for teens who are interested in potential careers in public safety week two…Police Week! These young adults have experienced/participated in traffic stops, Physical Fitness testing, Bomb Team demonstration, K9 demonstration, Aviation Unit and Virtual Reality Headset scenarios.

Day 2 of the Wiregrass Public Safety Academy was packed with hands-on learning and valuable life-saving skills!

After PT, the morning was dedicated to CPR training, where students learned how immediate intervention can make the difference between life and death. Studies show that when CPR is started quickly, it can help triple a victim's chance of survival. By the end of the session, participants earned their CPR certification and gained the confidence to respond in an emergency.

In the afternoon, recruits spent time with the Truck 1, getting an up-close look at ladder truck operations. Students had the opportunity to climb the aerial ladder and learn the fundamentals of forcible entry, practicing the techniques firefighters use to gain access during emergencies when every second counts.

Another great day of learning, teamwork, and experiencing what it takes to serve in the fire service.
