Just 12 days ago, Nilla showed up at what is now her foster family’s house and sat outside their door until they decided to bring her in. We don’t know much about her journey before that, but we do know that she’s made amazing progress.
She’s slowly learning that she’s safe, loved, and doesn’t have to face the world alone anymore.
Nilla is still very shy, but her foster family is starting to see more and more of her personality each day. She’s already potty trained and is working on crate training. She sleeps and eats comfortably in her crate, though she’ll happily let you know when she’s ready to come hang out. 😅
One thing Nilla has made very clear? She loves cuddles and attention. ❤️
She’s shown no signs of aggression around other dogs and has been quietly observing them from behind a gate. She’s also been calm around cats from afar, too!
For now, Nilla is taking things one day at a time, building confidence, and discovering what it means to be part of a family. We can’t wait to see how she continues to blossom.
If you’re interested in meeting Nilla, send us a DM or reach out to our foster team via email [email protected]

June is National Foster a Pet Month, and for today's , Abby is sharing one of our favorite programs: Finder-to-Foster! 🐾💙
With the Fourth of July right around the corner, we're highlighting this program because it's one of the best ways to help lost pets. Every year, fireworks cause many pets to become frightened and escape from their homes, leading to an increase in lost pet reports throughout our community.
Our Finder-to-Foster program is a great way to help lost pets get back home while also reducing the number of animals entering the shelter. In many cases, a lost pet's best chance of being reunited with its family is by staying in the neighborhood where it was found.
Instead of bringing the pet into the shelter, you provide a temporary place for them to stay while helping spread the word and search for their owner.
We'll help along the way by providing supplies such as food, bowls, and other essentials. We'll also make sure the pet is microchipped and vaccinated, giving them the best chance at a safe reunion while they're in your care.
Not only does Finder-to-Foster help keep pets out of the shelter, but it also creates space and resources for animals who truly need shelter intervention.
Interested in learning more? Visit our website or send us a message to see if Finder-to-Foster might be right for you. 🐶🐱💙

We’ve heard every reason in the book of why pets have found their way to our shelter after July 4th. Don’t let this be you, pledge to keep your pet safe by keeping them inside, making sure they are microchipped and wearing their collar and tags with up to date info!✅
Help us by keeping your pets home and out of the shelter!
And if you find a pet, help them reunite with their family. Please have them scanned for a microchip, file a found pet report, post them on social media, walk them around the neighborhood, and keep them for a day or two if possible rather than bringing them straight to our already full shelter.
We are relying on our incredible community to step up and look out for lost pets this holiday season! 🧡💜

⚡ Draco Malfoy may be small, but he’s already proven he’s tougher than most.
When he arrived at our shelter, he was suffering from multiple injuries, including trauma to his neck that affected how he holds his head. 🥺 We may never know exactly what happened to him before he came into our care.
What we do know is this: Draco hasn’t let any of it stop him. 💪
He’s healing, eating well, playing, and doing all the things a puppy should be doing. Most importantly, he’s still incredibly friendly and loves the people around him.
While Draco may need a few special considerations as he grows up, our vets are optimistic about his future. For now, he’s focused on the important things in life: toys, attention, and being a puppy. ❤️
This little wizard has already shown us how resilient he is. Now he just needs a family to help him write the next chapter of his story.

Dudley believes every couch was made specifically for him. 🛋️🐾
This sweet, laid-back boy is not your typical Malinois. While he enjoys daily walks and the occasional game of fetch, Dudley's true passions are belly rubs, cuddles, and spending time with his people.
He gets along well with other dogs, both big and small, and has a solid foundation in basic obedience. In fact, his previous owners jokingly named him Dudley because he was a bit of a "dud" when it came to the high-energy jobs many Malinois are known for. Instead, he chose a life of naps and snuggles.
Dudley is looking for a home that appreciates a big dog with an even bigger heart. If you're searching for a loyal companion who would rather cuddle on the couch than run a marathon, Dudley might be your perfect match. 💙

Preparing your pets for the Fourth of July starts now!🚨
For many pets, fireworks are loud, stressful, and overwhelming. One way to help them feel safer is by creating a positive association with their kennel before the holiday arrives. ✅️
A kennel should be more than just a place to keep your pet contained. When introduced properly, it can become a comfortable retreat where they feel secure during stressful situations. 💆😌
In this video, our Behavior & Enrichment Coordinator, Mason, shares a few tips on how to help your pet view their kennel as a safe space, including using treats, enrichment, comfy bedding, and allowing them to explore at their own pace. 🫶
The key is to start early. Building positive associations takes time, and the more comfortable your pet feels now, the better prepared they'll be when the fireworks begin.
