In 2015, during the Diwali celebration, our community gathered at the residence of Chet Gurung on 7th Street, Erie, Pennsylvania, for an important and historic meeting.

The main purpose of this gathering was to begin a shared intention to collect funds to build or purchase a Buddhist temple in Erie, PA, with the aspiration to preserve and continue our religious and cultural traditions for future generations.

During this meeting, we held the first meaningful discussion about the long-term vision of our Buddhist community, including our commitment to establish a permanent place of worship and practice. The gathering was also enriched with Desura dance and Diwali festivities, bringing joy, unity, and a strong sense of community spirit.

This moment became a foundation of inspiration for our ongoing journey to support and develop a Buddhist temple for the benefit of present and future generations.

I am sincerely grateful to everyone who participated in that early vision and supported the beginning of this important mission. May the merit of this effort contribute to the flourishing of the Buddha Dharma and bring peace, harmony, and happiness to all sentient beings. πŸ™πŸͺ·

In 2019, the Palyul Choekhor Ling Buddhist Center in Erie, Pennsylvania had the great fortune to host a special Dharma and cultural program with Khentrul Gyankheng Tulku Rinpoche. It was the first visit of Rinpoche to our center, where he kindly offered empowerments (Wang), teachings, and cultural activities for the community.

This auspicious event brought great joy and devotion to all participants and strengthened the connection between the Sangha, teachers, and the local Buddhist community. It was a meaningful occasion that deepened faith, inspired practice, and enriched our cultural and spiritual heritage.

We remain deeply grateful for Rinpoche’s blessings and the support of everyone who helped organize this precious Dharma gathering. May the merit of this event benefit all beings and help the Buddha Dharma flourish everywhere. πŸ™πŸͺ·
