Our deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of former West Ridge Fire Department and West Lake Fire Department firefighter Jacob Stafford.

Our hearts continue to hurt as we have been informed of the passing of former Charleston Firefighter, Engineer Jacob Stafford. Although Jacob left the department in 2016 to join the US Army Special Forces Green Beret, his impact stayed with so many people. We pray for peace and comfort to his family, friends, brothers and sisters. Til Valhalla.

A WINTER STORM WARNING remains in effect from 7 PM this evening to 1 PM Monday for between 9 and 12 inches of heavy snow.

Snow will spread into the region late tonight and peak in intensity during the day Sunday. The snow will gradually taper off Monday. Sub-zero wind chills are expected tonight into Sunday morning, and again Sunday night into Monday morning.

Millcreek Township OEM is monitoring the impending winter weather and potential power outages over the next few days. We are also preparing to open warm stations/shelters in the event they are needed.

Travel will be very difficult at times due to slippery road conditions and poor visibility. The hazardous conditions will impact the Monday morning commute. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission strongly encourage motorists to heed all travel restrictions and delay unnecessary travel. Visit www.511pa.com for the latest travel, roadway, and traffic conditions.
