Wednesday Club enjoyed a day outdoors, thanks to cooperative weather that made it a perfect setting for our wellness activities.
The Gannon Physical Therapy team led the group through stretching and chair exercises to warm up. Participants then took part in a two-minute walking challenge on a measured course. Group members took turns completing the timed laps while others cheered them on. Everyone who participated made progress and felt proud of their efforts.
The Sight Center’s walking path is a great place for members to get fresh air, stay active, and add more steps to their day.

Spending time in the sunshine feels great—but did you know your eyes need protection from the sun just as much as your skin?
Too much exposure to UV rays can increase your risk of:
⚠️ Cataracts
⚠️ Macular degeneration
⚠️ Eye irritation and damage over time
The good news? Protecting your vision is simple!
🕶️ Easy ways to keep your eyes safe:
✅ Wear sunglasses that block 100% of UVA and UVB rays
✅ Choose wraparound styles for extra protection
✅ Add a wide-brimmed hat for even more shade
✅ Never look directly at the sun
💬 Don’t forget! UV rays can affect your eyes even on cloudy days—so make eye protection part of your daily routine.

Our Wednesday Club speaker was Mara Foster-Gray, MS, CVRT, from Venango County Association for the Blind and she brought her expertise in Vision Rehabilitation Therapy to our group.
Mara presented a range of assistive living items designed to promote independence in daily life. She highlighted various tools including magnifiers, lighting, bump dots, label makers, watches, clocks, writing guides, digital pens, and electronic devices. She also introduced simple everyday processes that could help with functionality in personal care and tasks in their homes.
Everyone found something unique and purposeful that they could put into effect in their daily living!
