Today, we celebrate Juneteenth! Juneteenth commemorates the day that enslaved people in Galveston, Texas learned of their freedom in 1865, more than two years after Abraham Lincoln’s signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth celebrates Black freedom and the end of chattel slavery in the United States.

At the end of the year, third graders at Northwest held their annual Habitat Fair with dioramas and speeches representing each habitat. We love seeing the work our students put into these!

Southwest Student Council recently hosted their 5th annual Chalk Your Walk event. They worked hard to raise funds for the Mulliganeers, a nonprofit organization that provides financial assistance to families in need. In the end, they raised over $800! Great job, everyone!
