Have you seen these pieces of art in person? 🔽 If you've been to the Greater Fort Lauderdale / Broward County Convention Center recently, chances are, you've probably walked over it! 😉That's right, this artwork is on the floor, and it just won the 2026 Job of the Year Award from the National Terrazzo & Mosaic Association! Out of 17 incredible terrazzo projects from across the entire country, ours stood out.

🎨This piece of public art tells the story of our community while enhancing the visitor experience at the same time. Stop by and take a look.

Headed to the beach this weekend? Watch out for sea turtle nests that look like this. ⬇️ There have been over 1,800 nests marked on Broward Beaches so far this season. Also, if you go to the beach at night, be mindful of camera flashes. Artificial lights threaten sea turtles coming ashore to nest. 🐢

Florida’s Turnpike southbound lanes are closed from Okeechobee Road (U.S. 27) to Northwest 41st Street to support ongoing firefighting operations and ensure public safety. Northbound lanes remain open.

Reminder: County offices will be closed TODAY, Friday, June 19th in observance of the Juneteenth holiday. However, all Broward County Parks will be open except Markham Target Range and the Summer Recreation Program in neighborhood parks. Broward County Transit will operate on a regular weekday schedule. The County is taking emergency communications to the next level with a MAJOR upgrade to its 911 system. 🚨The County Commission recently approved a new Next Generation 911 (NG911) platform that will support voice, text, images, video, and enhanced location information, helping first responders get critical information during an emergency, when seconds matter most.

The transition will roll out over the next 12 to 18 months and will improve reliability, coordination, cybersecurity, and future technology integration. More info: https://webapps.broward.org/newsrelease/View.aspx?intMessageId=16217
