📚 Kindergarteners and children aged 5-6 are invited to practice and improve their reading skills at the Broward County Library fun L.E.A.P. (Literacy Enrichment & Advancement Program) workshop!

During each weekly session, attendees will explore interactive activity centers focusing on the five core practices of early literacy: reading, talking, singing, writing, and playing. It is highly encouraged that parents bring their children every week to continue building on these foundational skills.

🗣️ ¡Evite la pérdida de aprendizaje durante el verano con “English for Families: un programa de Alfabetización familiar”! 📚

La Biblioteca del Condado de Broward (Broward County Library) le invita a una serie de clases interactivas para padres e hijos (ideal para niños de 5 a 11 años) enfocadas en el desarrollo del vocabulario y las habilidades de lectoescritura a través de la lectura estratégica y divertida de cuentos.

Las clases están a cargo de un especialista en Alfabetización capacitado (bilingüe en inglés y español), quien enseñará lectura y lectoescritura a nivel multigeneracional mediante la lectura compartida de libros, juegos educativos y actividades didácticas. El programa promueve una experiencia familiar compartida y fomenta la lectura continua, así como el compromiso con el aprendizaje del idioma inglés a través de la práctica de la lectoescritura en el hogar.

📅 Fechas: A partir de este sábado 27 de junio, el programa se llevará a cabo los sábados de verano de 11:30 a.m. a 1:30 p.m. hasta el sábado 15 de agosto. (No habrá clase el sábado 4 de julio).

🗣️ Prevent the Summer Slide with “English for Families - A Family Literacy Program” 📚

Join the Broward County Library for a series of interactive classes for parents and children (best for ages 5-11) focusing on developing vocabulary and literacy skills through strategic and fun story reading.

Classes are led by a trained literacy coach (bilingual in English and Spanish) who will teach literacy and reading on a multi-generational level through shared book reading, literacy games, and educational activities. The program promotes a shared family experience and encourages further reading and engagement in English language learning through literacy at home.

📅 Dates: This Saturday, June 27, the program runs on summer Saturdays at 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. through Saturday August 15. (No class on Saturday, July 4.)

🦖🔍 Travel back in time this summer with the Broward County Library and unearth a story! The Hallandale Beach Branch Library is hosting "Dinosaurs," an interactive workshop presented by Mad Science of Palm Beach and Broward County, FL designed to help attendees learn STEM. 🦕📚

Kids (ages 5-7) will get hands-on experience examining real fossil casts and exploring the fascinating differences between herbivorous and carnivorous dinosaur teeth. Participants will even join a mini dinosaur excavation and craft their very own dinosaur tooth cast to take home!

Space is strictly limited and registration is required for each attendee.

The Broward Public Library Foundation would like to congratulate Joey Crawford, Chair of the Library Foundation's Board of Directors, for being recently re-elected to the Urban Libraries Council's Board of Directors! Crawford will serve as the ULC's Immediate Past Chair for 2026-2027 after serving as Chair for the past year.

“It has been an honor to serve as Chair of the ULC Board of Directors,” Crawford said. “Connecting with directors, foundation leaders, and trustees from library systems across North America has been incredibly rewarding. I look forward to continuing this important work and bringing these insights back to our community.”

With nearly 200 members across the U.S. and Canada, including Broward County Library, the Urban Libraries Council is dedicated to strengthening and advancing the essential role of public libraries as dynamic, accessible places for opportunity, learning, and innovation.
