Today, we gathered to celebrate Juneteenth—a day that reminds us of both how far we’ve come and the work that still lies ahead.

I was honored to join community leaders, residents, and advocates at Fresno City Hall for the annual Juneteenth Flag Raising Ceremony, recognizing the enduring legacy, resilience, and contributions of the Black community in Fresno and across our nation.

Juneteenth is more than a moment in history. It is a reminder of the importance of freedom, opportunity, and ensuring every person has the chance to thrive. As we reflect on the past, we also recommit ourselves to building a stronger, more inclusive future for all.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this celebration possible and to those who continue to lead with service, courage, and purpose.

I’m excited to share that new utility box art has been installed along McKinley, adding vibrant new works by local artists to one of our city’s major corridors! These installations are part of Fresno’s Utility Box Art Program, which transforms everyday infrastructure into public art while creating opportunities for artists to leave their mark on our community. 🎨🖌️

If you spot one while you’re out and about, be sure to scan the QR code to learn more about the program and how to apply to have your own artwork featured on a future utility box.

And this is only the beginning. More utility box art is on the way, bringing color, creativity, and local pride to neighborhoods across Fresno.

Interested in having your artwork featured? Learn more and apply through the City of Fresno’s Utility Box Art Program at beautifyfresno.org or fresno.gov/mayor/traffic-box-art/.

The secret to a long life? Making every day count, sticking to a gluten-free diet, and staying active in the gym—at least according to Virginia Kevorkian. 💪🎉

This morning, I had the opportunity to celebrate Virginia’s 101st birthday and recognize a life defined by resilience, service, and community. After arriving in Fresno by train from New York in 1937, Virginia built a legacy of giving back, including serving on councils that supported local youth.

At 101 years young, she still enjoys spending time with friends through the OASIS Adult Day Program at Valley Caregiver Resource Center and continues to inspire everyone around her.

Happy 101st Birthday, Virginia! Here’s to 101 years of making every day count. 💐

🌈 Proud to join the 36th Annual Fresno Rainbow Pride Parade!

It was great to see so many people come together in celebration, community, and support of our LGBTQ+ neighbors. Events like Pride remind us that Fresno is at its best when everyone feels welcome and has the opportunity to be their authentic selves.

Thank you to Fresno City Fire Fighters Local 202 for welcoming my team and I aboard their historic fire engine. We appreciate your continued support of this community tradition.

Happy Pride Month, Fresno! ❤️

Affordable childcare shouldn’t be out of reach for Fresno families.

I was proud to secure unanimous approval for Fresno’s new Commission on Family Affordability and Childcare Access.

For too many families, childcare costs have become a barrier to work, education, and financial stability. This commission will bring together community leaders and stakeholders to identify long-term solutions, while the pilot program will help us explore ways to expand access to affordable, reliable childcare.

Childcare is not just a family issue—it’s an economic issue. When parents have access to quality childcare, children thrive, families succeed, and businesses grow. This is an important first step toward making Fresno a more affordable, family-friendly city for everyone.

For 150 years, Fresno Ag Hardware has been part of Fresno’s story.

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to present a proclamation recognizing Fresno Ag’s 150th anniversary and learn more about the incredible legacy they have built as Fresno’s longest-running business.

What made the visit even more special was seeing that legacy passed on to the next generation. Fresno Ag donated supplies to Fresno State ASI, continuing a tradition of investing in our community and supporting future leaders.

From helping build Fresno’s foundation to giving back today, Fresno Ag continues to demonstrate what it means to serve our city.

Congratulations on 150 years of history, service, and community impact!

Congratulations to the newly installed Fresno State ASI student officers! 🐾

It was an honor to join students, faculty, and community leaders in celebrating the next generation of Bulldog leaders as they begin this new chapter of service to their campus. Student government provides a unique opportunity to lead, advocate, and make a lasting impact, and I look forward to seeing all they accomplish in the year ahead—both at Fresno State and throughout our community.

Congratulations again to the incoming ASI officers, and best of luck this year. Go ’Dogs! ❤️💙

I recently had the opportunity to learn more about the work being done at the Resiliency Center, and one message stayed with me: healing often begins long before a crisis ever occurs.

During my visit, I learned how their team partners with schools, families, veterans, and first responders to identify trauma early and connect individuals with the support they need. From teaching resilience and emotional wellness skills in elementary classrooms to providing mental health services for children, families, and veterans, their work is rooted in a simple but powerful belief: early intervention can change the course of a life.

The strongest communities aren’t built by simply responding to challenges as they arise. They’re built by investing in people early, creating pathways to support, and ensuring that no child or family has to navigate hardship alone.

Thank you to the Resiliency Center for the compassionate work you do each day to bring hope, healing, and opportunity to those who need it most.
