A few of the incredible women of Hollywood Fire Rescue joined the Hollywood Women’s Club for a special photo in support of the Florida State President’s project. This is an initiative that provides scholarships for women pursuing training at the Florida State Firefighter Academy.
We’re grateful to stand alongside community partners who believe in empowering future firefighters and opening doors for the next generation.

Lightning Awareness Week ⚡️
As summer storms intensify across South Florida, Hollywood Fire Rescue is reminding residents of the essential steps to stay safe during lightning activity.
➡️ When thunder roars, go indoors — If you can hear it, you’re close enough to be struck.
➡️ Avoid open areas such as beaches, fields, and pools.
➡️ Stay clear of tall structures that can attract lightning.
Lightning is unpredictable, but preparation and awareness significantly reduce risk. Hollywood Fire Rescue encourages everyone to stay alert and make safety a priority throughout the storm season.

Tonight, Chief Brown met with the Hollywood Hills Civic Association to give an important presentation on lithium‑ion battery safety, which is a growing topic as these batteries power everything from scooters to phones.
He also shared our File for Life cards, a simple but powerful tool that helps first responders access critical medical information during an emergency.
We appreciate the opportunity to connect with our community and continue promoting fire safety education and preparedness across Hollywood.

Air Quality Update from Hollywood Fire Rescue 🌫️🚒
Smoke from two brush fires in western Miami‑Dade County is drifting northeast, creating hazy skies and smoky conditions across parts of South Florida, including right here in Hollywood.
Most people may only notice mild irritation, but anyone with asthma, COPD, heart conditions, or other respiratory issues should limit time outdoors if smoke is present in their area.
If you smell or see smoke, keep windows and doors closed, stay indoors when possible, and monitor local air quality updates.
Your safety is our priority. We’ll continue to keep the community informed. Stay safe, Hollywood!

Firefighter Safety Stand Down – Day 2 💪🔥
Day 2 of Safety Stand Down focuses on the I in Fitness: Intentional.
Effective training isn’t about doing more, it’s about doing what matters most. An intentional approach to firefighter fitness aligns goals, intensity, and programming with each firefighter’s baseline fitness, experience, and operational demands.
This ensures every workout is deliberate, evidence‑informed, and purpose‑driven, supporting strong performance today and long‑term sustainability throughout a fire service career.
A healthier firefighter is a safer firefighter
