Juneteenth 2026 was truly one to remember!

What an incredible honor to join Mayor John Whitmire and speak to a packed crowd at Emancipation Park during a celebration filled with joy, culture, history, and unforgettable performances. From Brian Courtney Wilson to Robert Glasper and so many other talented artists, the energy throughout the day was absolutely electric.

The celebration didn't stop there. The festivities continued at Miller Outdoor Theatre with an outstanding performance by Chante Moore and Maze featuring Chris Walker, bringing the community together for another evening of world-class entertainment.

More than the music, what made this year's Juneteenth celebrations so special was seeing our community come together in the spirit of unity, reflection, and celebration. From Emancipation Park to Miller Outdoor Theatre, the love, fellowship, and pride on display were truly heartwarming.

The music was off the charts, the crowds were incredible, and the Juneteenth spirit was alive and well throughout our city. Thank you to everyone who came out and helped make this celebration one that will be remembered for years to come.

Happy Father’s Day from the District D Office!

Today, we celebrate the fathers, father figures, grandfathers, mentors, and men who continue to show up with love, strength, guidance, and sacrifice.

The work you do for your children, families, and communities does not go unnoticed. Your presence matters, your commitment matters, and the example you set every day helps shape the future of District D.

Thank you to all of the fathers who remain present, continue to do the hard work, and pour into the next generation. We see you, we appreciate you, and we celebrate you today.

Happy Juneteenth, District D! β€οΈπŸ’›πŸ’šπŸ–€

Today, we celebrate freedom, culture, resilience, and the powerful legacy of those who came before us. Juneteenth is more than a holiday β€” it is a reminder of the long road to freedom, the strength of our ancestors, and the continued responsibility we have to honor their sacrifices through unity, progress, and community.

Here in District D, Juneteenth has always held a special place in our hearts. From historic neighborhoods like Third Ward, Sunnyside, South Park, MacGregor, and beyond, our district has long carried the spirit of celebration, remembrance, and Black excellence. For generations, families, churches, civic leaders, artists, educators, and community members have gathered to celebrate freedom in ways that are joyful, meaningful, and deeply rooted in history.

As we honor this day, let’s celebrate safely, support one another, uplift our community, and continue building on the legacy that makes District D so special.

Happy Juneteenth from the District of Destination! Let freedom ring, let the music play, and let the celebration continue!
