Carlos’ journey didn’t start easy.

After coming from Angola, he was taking a 4-hour bus ride, plus a long walk, just to get to work at McDonald’s.

That’s what determination looks like.
But his story didn’t stop there.

Through the support of Covenant House Texas and the guidance of our Workforce team, Carlos stepped into a new opportunity. Today, he’s working at Memorial Hermann—building a career and pursuing his goal of becoming a nurse.

That’s restoration.

Not just getting by...
but moving forward with purpose.

Not just surviving....
but building something better.

Carlos’ story is a reminder: when young people are given the right support, they don’t just find jobs, they build futures.

Covenant House Texas hosted a Career Fair led by Dr. David Sandberg and our Workforce team, connecting young people with employers and programs ready to invest in their futures.

For many of our youth, this was more than networking. It was a chance to see new possibilities for their lives and careers.

As Lebrayzia J. from our Safe Haven program shared, “Today’s career fair was very impactful! It opened my mind to different opportunities and will lead to jobs that we wouldn’t have otherwise known about.”

We are grateful to every company and partner who showed up to create pathways toward stability, growth, and long-term success for our youth.

Thank you to Blueprint Church for partnering with Covenant House Texas to support our Street Outreach program by assembling hygiene kits and supplies for individuals in our community.

What made this day even more meaningful wasn’t just what was done, but what was felt.

After serving, the group took time to reflect sharing gratitude, perspective, and a deeper awareness of how different each person’s journey can be.

They were reminded how easy it is to overlook what we have…
and how important it is to hold onto faith, even in difficult seasons.

Because for the young people we serve, hope matters.
And knowing someone cares can make all the difference.
