Current local impacts remain minimal; according to the Harris County Flood Warning System, the maximum rainfall over the last 6 hours in Deer Park is only 0.68 inches, recorded in the northern part of the city. The National Weather Service has upgraded the disturbance in the Gulf to a Tropical Storm. Tropical Storm Arthur is the first named storm of the 2026 Atlantic Hurricane Season.

According to the National Hurricane Center, Tropical Storm Arthur is expected to move across the upper Texas coast and into Louisiana this evening. While the heaviest downpours from this morning’s coastal convergence zone are weakening, additional scattered showers, thunderstorms, and localized street flooding remain possible south of I-10 through the afternoon, along with wind gusts of 20 to 30 mph (and up to 40 mph in passing squalls). As Arthur exits tonight, building high pressure will rapidly shift our focus to extreme heat, with heat index values soaring between 102 and 108 degrees on Thursday and up to 112 degrees by Friday, likely requiring official heat advisories.

Get a Kit | 🔦 | Check your emergency supplies. Your kit should contain enough non-perishable food and water to last seven days, plus medications, flashlights, first aid supplies, and pet essentials. Find a full checklist at www.readyharris.org.

Make a Plan | 🚗 | Know your evacuation routes and review the Zip Zone Evacuation Map. If you or a loved one are medically fragile or require transportation assistance during an evacuation, register for the free State of Texas Emergency Assistance Registry (STEAR) online or by calling 2-1-1. Additionally, ensure your flood insurance policy is active, even if your property has never flooded.

⚠️ 𝘿𝙀𝙀𝙍 𝙋𝘼𝙍𝙆 𝘼𝙇𝙀𝙍𝙏𝙎 | 𝙒𝙀𝘼𝙏𝙃𝙀𝙍 𝘼𝙒𝘼𝙍𝙀𝙉𝙀𝙎𝙎 ⛈️
Deer Park Office of Emergency Management is actively monitoring Potential Tropical Cyclone One, which is forecasted to become a tropical storm. A National Weather Service Flood Watch is in effect for our area through Thursday morning due to extremely high atmospheric moisture levels. While rainfall has been minimal today, with .36 inches over the last 24 hours and no flooding reported in Deer Park, heavy tropical downpours are expected tomorrow, bringing a strong possibility of street and localized flash flooding.

Current NOAA forecasts indicate the storm's center will remain just off the coast before moving inland near the Texas-Louisiana border late Wednesday or Thursday. Although the most severe impacts are expected to stay east of our area, the system is large enough to bring heavy tropical moisture and high-wind corridors to the upper Texas coast.
