Summer Seizure Safety Starts with Knowing Seizure First Aid
Summer is a time for swimming, vacations, sports, camps, and family gatherings. Whether you're at the pool, the park, or a backyard barbecue, knowing seizure first aid can help make summer activities safer for everyone.
π If someone has a seizure:
1οΈβ£ Stay calm and stay with the person.
2οΈβ£ Keep them safe by moving nearby objects away.
3οΈβ£ Turn them onto their side.
4οΈβ£ Place something soft under their head.
5οΈβ£ Time the seizure.
6οΈβ£ Do NOT hold them down or put anything in their mouth.
7οΈβ£ Call 911 if the seizure lasts longer than 5 minutes, if another seizure begins immediately, if the person is injured, has trouble breathing, or if you're unsure whether emergency help is needed.
Knowing these simple steps can make a big difference during everyday summer activitiesβfrom pool parties and sports practices to family vacations and community events.
When more people know seizure first aid, children, teens, and adults living with epilepsy can participate in summer fun with greater confidence, safety, and support.
π This summer, take a few minutes to learn seizure first aid. You never know when that knowledge could help someone in your community.
Share this post to help spread awareness and create a more seizure-safe summer for everyone. π
