This is the official page of the City of Pearland. In 2007, Forbes Magazine ranked Pearland as the 34th fastest growing suburb in the nation.

Pearland (pronounced "pear-land," like the fruit), is a city located along the Gulf Coast region in the US state of Texas within the Houston–Sugar Land–Baytown metropolitan area and is in the counties of Brazoria, Fort Bend, and Harris. It is therefore the fastest growing suburb in the Greater Houston area, and the 10th fastest growing in the state of Texas.

JUNETEENTH CELEBRATION CANCELLED DUE TO SEVERE WEATHER

After careful consideration, taking into consideration several factors, the decision has been made to cancel the Juneteenth Freedom Celebration.

The factors include the issuance of a Flash Flood Warning for the Pearland area, current saturated ground conditions at Independence Park, and the forecast for additional rain and inclement weather until 7 pm this evening.

We recognize the significance of this celebration and the effort invested by staff, volunteers, vendors, and committee members. The safety of attendees and participants is the highest priority, and current conditions do not make it possible to host the event safely.

Because of the timing relative to Concerts in the Park, Father's Day, and Celebration of Freedom, the Juneteenth Freedom Celebration will not be rescheduled.

Thank you for your understanding and support. We appreciate the hard work and dedication of everyone involved in planning this event.

If you've stepped outside today, you've probably noticed it definitely feels hotter. All of Southeast Texas is under heat advisory until 10 p.m. Saturday.

🧊Stay safe in the heat:
• Drink plenty of water
• Apply sunscreen
• Wear lightweight clothing
• Take breaks in the shade

🔅Know the signs of heat exhaustion:
• Feeling dizzy, thirsty, nauseous, or weak
If this happens, move to a cooler area, sip cool water, and seek medical help if symptoms don’t improve.

🚨Heat stroke is an emergency:
• Unconsciousness, confusion, extreme dizziness
If you notice these signs, call 911 immediately, move to a cooler place, remove extra layers, and drink water.

Stay safe, Pearland!

Happy Juneteenth, Pearland! Today we take a moment to reflect on the history behind this important day. On June 19, 1865, General Order No. 3 was read in Galveston, notifying the last enslaved people in Texas of their freedom. This moment laid the groundwork for the Juneteenth celebrations we honor today.

Take a moment today to explore the history and learn more with a loved one.

SE Texas is under a Flash Flood Watch through Thursday morning, with widespread rainfall of 4–8 inches expected and locally higher amounts possible. While a tropical depression may briefly develop in the Gulf, the primary concern remains heavy rainfall and the potential for flash flooding.

City departments are actively monitoring the forecast and preparing for potential impacts. We encourage residents to stay weather aware, shelter in place during periods of heavy rain, and keep roadways clear for first responders.

Stay safe, Pearland! For weather alerts, text PLTXWEATHER to 888777.

Conditions will be somewhat favorable for the development of a brief tropical depression or tropical storm Wednesday-Thursday over the NW Gulf.

Regardless of development, the primary concern remains periods of heavy rainfall and flash flooding. Though heavy rainfall is possible areawide (SE Texas), the highest risk of flash flooding over the next few days will be across our southern and coastal counties.
