Today, County Attorney Abbie Kamin joined community leaders, including Harris County Precinct One Commissioner Rodney Ellis and Congressman Rep. Al Green, for a deeply moving and historic morning in Harris County.
Together, we gathered for the unveiling of lynching markers honoring the victims of racial terror in our county’s history. We were incredibly humbled to be joined by the family members of one of the victims, whose presence served as a powerful reminder of why we must continue to carry their memory forward.
Following vital remarks on the history of enslavement and the absolute necessity of remembrance, a jazz band led a solemn procession to the site of the future Remembrance Park. Once complete, this park will stand as a dedicated public space for reflection, education, and community healing.
We cannot build a just future without courageously confronting and honoring our past. 🖤

Standing in the historic Freedmen’s Town at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church alongside Congressman Christian Menefee and next-generation leaders, Harris County Attorney Abbie Kamin delivered a powerful message this Juneteenth.
From 1865 to the passing of the Voting Rights Act in 1965, the fight for equality has never stopped. Today, as voting rights face modern threats, our commitment to defending democracy remains unshakable.
