Today, on Juneteenth, I was honored to join the Riceville community in unveiling a memorial to this historic Freedom Colony, founded by formerly enslaved families.
As efforts to erase Black history grow louder, preserving Riceville's story matters more than ever. Thank you to Council Member Edward Pollard, Pastor Thomas T. Davis Jr., and all who are working to ensure its legacy endures.
On Juneteenth, we remember the day freedom finally reached the more than 250,000 enslaved people in Texas. Their legacy lives on in the communities, culture, and progress we celebrate today.

I was proud to join the Transportation Advocacy Group - Houston Region for their Celebration of Women Leaders in Transportation. From the roads we drive, to the drainage that protects our neighborhoods, to the sidewalks our children walk to school, women are at the forefront of building a safer, stronger Harris County.
Hurricane season is here, and last weekend my team and I hosted a workshop in Katy to help our community prepare.
