Happy Father’s Day to Our Foster “Dads!” 💙

Some dads fix leaky faucets. Ours bottle-feed kittens, comfort nervous pups, and open their homes to animals who need a safe place to land.

This Father’s Day, we’re celebrating the incredible foster volunteers at the Irvine Animal Care Center — those who step up as temporary caregivers, steady hands, and patient hearts for animals on their journey to adoption.

Whether it’s late-night feedings, early-morning cleanups, or just being a calm presence in a big, confusing world, our foster dads make a lasting difference in the lives they help shape.

Thank you for showing what care, commitment, and compassion look like.

Happy Father’s Day from the Irvine Animal Care Center!

It might feel fine outside — but the ground tells a different story.

Before heading out for a summer walk, do a quick pavement check: place the back of your hand on the ground for seven seconds. If it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for your dog’s paws.

Early mornings and evenings are the safest times to walk, when sidewalks have cooled and heat stress risk drops. Midday outings can turn uncomfortable — or unsafe — much faster than expected.

When it’s too hot to walk, swap in indoor play, training, or enrichment games to keep your dog engaged and active.

🐾 Thank you to everyone who visited the Irvine Animal Care Center for California Adopt-a-Pet Day. We loved seeing so many of you stop by to meet adoptable pets, learn more about animal adoption, and support this statewide effort to connect pets with loving homes.

Thanks to your support, 15 pets were adopted during the event.

Each adoption helps create more space and resources for animals still waiting for their future families, making a lasting impact beyond just one day.

☀️ Summer pet care tip: keep fresh water available for your pets at all times.

On warm days, pets can become dehydrated more quickly than we realize, so regular access to clean, cool water is essential. Make sure bowls are refilled throughout the day, placed in shaded or cooler areas of your home or yard, and easy for your pet to reach at all times.

A simple check-in — refilling water a little more often — can go a long way in helping your pet stay comfortable and healthy this summer.
