Westminster Structure Fire
Earlier this evening, crews responded to multiple reports of a structure fire in Westminster. Many callers reported seeing a large column of smoke from the freeway.
When Engine 66 arrived, they found a two-story home with a patio cover on fire, with flames already extending into the residence. Crews quickly deployed hose lines and coordinated an aggressive attack on both the exterior patio fire and the interior of the home.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The quick knockdown stopped the fire’s spread, saving a majority of the home and countless family belongings.

Today, Chief McGovern joined leaders from CAL FIRE, the Los Angeles County Fire Department, the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), the Ventura County Fire Department, and the U.S. Forest Service to discuss this year’s wildfire season outlook and the ongoing threat of wildfires across Southern California.
The chiefs highlighted the importance of preparedness at both the household and community levels, sharing steps residents can take to reduce risk and stay safe. They also discussed the extensive efforts underway by fire agencies to prevent, prepare for, and respond to wildfires year-round.
As we move into peak fire season, now is the time to create defensible space, harden your home, sign up for emergency alerts, and have an evacuation plan in place.
🔥 Vegetation Fire 🔥
This afternoon, firefighters quickly contained a brush fire in unincorporated Rancho Mission Viejo. When our units arrived on scene, the fire was already one acre in size and growing. Through a coordinated aerial and ground attack, the fire was held to 11.9 acres. No structures were damaged.
The cause of the fire was determined to be an unintentional, unspecified event involving a UAV (drone).
Drowning is silent. It can happen in seconds.
