The question isn't "what's in the box?," but "where will this box take you?" ⬜
Answer: Around Irvine in a new way!
Crews are making progress on the Marine Way Undercrossing and Extension project, which will create a new rail undercrossing at Marine Way — connecting the Great Park and Spectrum area while reducing travel distances, easing congestion, and saving time and fuel for drivers and commuters.
Here's what's coming up for the project:
🫗 Concrete will be poured to create the foundation of the box structure.
🛜 Utilities and communication conduits will be relocated to support the new undercrossing.
🫸This fall, crews will move the Marine Way Box and reroute the water channel to create the undercrossing opening.

Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control District will be conducting mosquito control efforts at the UCI Marsh June 25–26 from 8 a.m. to noon.
We can all do our part to help prevent mosquitoes in our neighborhoods by taking a few important steps. During National Mosquito Control Awareness Week, June 21–27, we encourage residents to dump standing water, which is a breeding ground for mosquitoes, and wear an EPA-approved insect repellent to prevent bites.

Today, we recognize Juneteenth, the federal holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States.
On June 19, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued, Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, announcing that the more than 250,000 enslaved black people in Texas were free by executive decree.
As we honor Juneteenth, we recognize the significance of this moment in our nation’s history and reaffirm our commitment to the ideals of freedom, equality, and opportunity for all.
We hope you will join us at the Great Park for the fifth annual Juneteenth Freedom Celebration this Saturday, June 20, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Learn more about this free event being held by BIPOC Orange County, in partnership with the City, at irvinejuneteenth.com.
Please note that City Hall is closed today in observance of the holiday. For a list of City closures, visit bit.ly/4ozWgVQ.
