I am proud to be recognized by Moms Demand Action as one of their 2026 Gun Sense Candidates!
At a time when we see gun violence as an epidemic, I will do everything to protect Irvine from gun violence and work closely with our public safety and school districts to ensure we provide the safest environments for our next generation to grow and thrive.

I am honored to receive Buena Park Mayor Connor Traut's endorsement, who is on track to be our newest Orange County Supervisor in November!
I have had the pleasure of knowing Connor for several years, back to when I was a Professor at Chapman University. It has been terrific to see him continue in a path of public service and always lead with honesty, humility, and respect! He is a tremendous asset to Orange County, and will be a great County Supervisor.
I am proud to support him for OC Supervisor and grateful to have his full support!

As we wrap up the last few days of AANHPI Heritage Month, I am proud to receive the support of several AAPI leaders who are continuously showing up to organize our communities to have a seat at the table! I am honored to have the endorsement of the Fmr. CA AAPI Caucus's Statewide Chair Hon. Melissa Ramoso who currently serves as Mayor Pro Tem of Artesia, current National AAPI Caucus Vice Chair Harini Krishnan, and the current CA AAPI Caucus's Statewide Vice Chair Steve Kang!
Beginning my career of public service as an activist and advocate of the Korean-American community, to serving as Irvine's very first Asian American Mayor, and now running to defend Irvine's diversity & inclusion efforts, I am thankful to receive this support locally, and statewide & nationally!
Let's continue celebrating the remainder of this AANHPI Heritage Month and building AAPI political power in Irvine and beyond. Join our grassroots campaign at sukheekang4irvine.com!

Eid Al-Adha Mubarak to our Muslim communities in Irvine and around the world! Irvine's diversity, including our religious diversity, is something I am so proud of. May this diversity remain one of Irvine's biggest blessings!
Wishing everyone observing a blessed Eid Al-Adha with peace, happiness, and harmony ahead. At a time when we face general attacks on our diversity, and more specifically attacks against the Muslim community and their houses of worship, may this day also reconvene the community in healing.
Eid Al-Adha Mubarak!

Happy Memorial Day! On this day we honor our fallen soldiers who gave it their all to protect our democracy, diversity, and freedoms. This morning, I was able to join Irvine's Memorial Day Ceremony at Bill Barber Park.

I am so honored to receive the endorsement of Gina Clayton-Tarvin, who is currently serving as the Ocean View School District's Board President! Gina, for her entire career, has been standing up for her most vulnerable neighbors in Huntington Beach, fighting for equity in the Ocean View School District, and ensuring inclusion of everyone in Orange County. She has been a trailblazer in standing up to political agendas aiming to distract our communities with hate and division.
The incumbent Irvine City Council recently voted to put its diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts of our city on the chopping block due to a budget deficit (all while ignoring their own personal office expenses that are much greater in size). In such a moment, Gina's endorsement means even more as I look to ensure Irvine continues to lead as a place of diversity, equity, and inclusion. I look forward to working closely with OVSD President Clayton-Tarvin in building a more inclusive Orange County, beginning with Irvine!

Earlier this month, it was great to go out to Irvine's 3rd annual CicloIrvine where hundreds of residents showed up to support open streets & car-free transportation in-practice!
Irvine is home to some of the best trails and walkways for biking, walking, skating and much more. There is so much we still have to do, especially at the policy level to support our environment through our city's transit practices. As Mayor, I secured well over $120 Million during 2008 to support Irvine's transportation goals. Whether it's our walkways, trails, or our public transit, I am committed to supporting those initiatives as an investment in the future for our next generation!
