Sometimes superheros do wear capes … thank you Southern Nevada Association of Women Attorneys for holding an event to introduce the legal community to Critical Care Comics.

What an amazing way to cap off a week! Congratulations to all the new admittees! I can't wait to see all the new admittees in action. I love this part of my job!

So fun participating in Take Your Child to Work Day this week with all the children who visited the NV 8th Judicial District Court! The children were able to learn about finger printing and evidence retention, attend an IT coding seminar, and sit on a jury. Thank you Project REAL for the trial of Harry Potter co-written by one of our Nevada Supreme Court Justices.

Every year since being on the bench, I have read for Nevada Reading Week at Liliam Lujan Hickey Elementary School (with the help of Ed Gonzalez). I thought this year I would have to miss it because I was in a trial.

But, when the trial verdict came back earlier than scheduled, I was able to quickly squeeze in a visit to another local elementary school. And I got to read to 107 first graders! I read the two books pictured. A Tale of Two Beasts was a great segue into a discussion about what a Judge does. It is such a clever way of presenting two sides to a story. And finally, we ended with a Q & A segment. The questions were amazing and are always a joy!

Next year, I’ll be back at Hickey. But, this was a great last minute replacement.

Thank you to and Eric Kohli for a really nice Wednesday night gathering of the legal community including William S. Boyd School of Law at UNLV representatives. I appreciate the invite Judge Talim!

Thank you to the Sun City Anthem Community group of more than 200 residents for having me as a speaker last night! It is always a pleasure to give an informational speech about Nevada Courts.

The audience questions and comments were also great. I am so impressed with how many voters want to learn about our courts in this state.

I hope many of the attendees will visit my courtroom to observe hearings and/or trials soon.

One of the greatest privileges I have in this role is leading swearing-in ceremonies, each a unique celebration of public service. This one was truly unforgettable. Thank you, Hauoli Paz, for inviting me to be a part of it, and congratulations to all the dedicated officers, both new and returning, including my friend Maria Teresa Hank.

Some colleagues continually raise the bar. Angel Lash thank you for having this Community Resource Sharing Meeting and all you do with the NV 8th Judicial District Court L.I.M.A. program. I can’t wait to celebrate at the upcoming graduation ceremony too.
