Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are expected late this afternoon through tonight, mainly along and south of I-15. And, while we would love to see some rain, unfortunately, the main concerns with these storms will be lightning and gusty downburst winds given very dry lower-levels of the atmosphere. This will also yield increased concerns for lightning-started wildfires beneath any storms that develop.

Temperatures rise to 6 to 8 degrees above-normal midweek while modest monsoonal moisture pushes into the Desert Southwest. Tuesday through Thursday, there is a slight chance of dry showers and thunderstorms. The best chances are 30 to 40 percent in San Bernardino County on Tuesday.

Temperatures will be 1-3 degrees above-normal today, so whatever activity your dad wants to do outside, make sure that he brings plenty of water, sunscreen, and takes frequent breaks in the shade!

Temperatures will hover within a couple degrees of seasonal normals through the weekend with afternoon breezes and mostly sunny skies.

Dry conditions & gusty southwest winds between 25 & 35 mph will result in greater risk of wildfire starts & spreads. Recreation involving sparks or flames is highly discouraged, including safe-and-sane fireworks.

🔥Critical fire weather conditions are expected on Friday afternoon and evening across a large portion of the region. That means gusty winds and very dry conditions will produce an environment where any fires that start could spread and grow rapidly. Be extra careful out there, and avoid any activities that could produce a flame or spark! If you see smoke or a fire, report it immediately!

Look forward to slightly cooler temperatures this weekend before things start picking back up again on Monday. Don’t forget to hydrate and take plenty of breaks from the heat.

Another hot summer day is on tap across the Mojave Desert and southern Great Basin. If you're spending time outdoors, don't wait until you're thirsty to drink water, and remember to take plenty of breaks from the heat.

Above-normal temperatures will peak today and Wednesday before gradually dropping as we head into the weekend. 🌞🥵 This drop in temperatures will be accompanied by breezy southwesterly winds, with the strongest winds forecast for Friday afternoon (25 to 35 mph). 🌬️
