This Father's Day, we asked our officers to share one word that reminds them of their dad. 💙👔

From "hero" to "strength" to "support," every answer tells a story.

Now it's your turn: What's one word that describes your dad? 👇

OPERATION PAWSITIVE CHANGE UPDATE 🐾

Protecting animals requires more than enforcement—it takes education, prevention and a commitment to doing what's right.

Over the past several weeks, our Animal Protection Services officers, Deputy City Marshals, POP officers and community partners, like The Animal Foundation, have continued working to address illegal animal sales, irresponsible breeding practices and animal welfare concerns throughout the Las Vegas Valley.

These efforts have resulted in multiple citations, arrests on outstanding warrants and the protection of numerous puppies that may have otherwise been placed in unsafe situations.

Operation Pawsitive Change is about more than issuing citations. It's about protecting animals, holding irresponsible sellers accountable and helping ensure animals are placed in safe and healthy environments.
As summer temperatures continue to rise, we encourage pet owners to:

- Provide access to fresh water at all times ☀️
- Ensure animals have adequate shade and shelter 🌴
- Never tether animals during extreme heat conditions 🚫
- Spay and neuter pets to help reduce animal overpopulation 🐾

Thank you to everyone involved in Operation Pawsitive Change. Your professionalism, compassion and dedication continue to make a difference throughout our community.

Every interaction matters. Every animal matters. ❤️🐾

Today, we recognize and celebrate Juneteenth — a day that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States.

Juneteenth serves as a reminder of the importance of freedom, equality and opportunity for all. As we continue serving our community, we remain committed to building trust and strengthening relationships with the people we are privileged to serve.

Happy Juneteenth from the city of Las Vegas Department of Public Safety.

❤️🖤💚

👀 Two views. One mission.

What you see on Fremont Street is a friendly face with four paws.

What Scarlett sees is something completely different.

From our perspective: a walk-through downtown. 🐾
From Scarlett’s perspective: she’s constantly working—trained to detect explosives and fi****ms as part of her specialized role in keeping our community safe.

In our Department of Public Safety, we depend on K9 Scarlett’s training and senses to enhance safety at community events, city facilities and public spaces. While she's earning pets and turning heads, she's also doing what she does best—protecting the people she serves.

Take a walk in Scarlett's paws and see Fremont Street through the eyes (and nose) of a working K9. 🐕💙

Yesterday, we recognized and celebrated Corrections Officer Kline as he begins a new chapter within the Department of Public Safety.

After years of dedicated service in Corrections, Officer Kline is medically retiring from his role behind the badge and transitioning into a new position as a Law Enforcement Support Technician (LEST). While his title may be changing, his commitment to public safety and service remains the same.

Officer Kline brings with him a wealth of institutional knowledge, firsthand correctional experience and a deep understanding of our operations. His background will be an invaluable asset to the LEST team, helping bridge operational perspectives, enhance collaboration and provide unique insight that can only come from years spent working directly within our correctional facilities.

Please join us in congratulating Officer Kline on his retirement from Corrections and welcoming him to the LEST family! 💙

🐾 Before You Rescue, Pause. Mom May Be Nearby.
Finding kittens alone does not mean they have been abandoned.

Mother cats often leave their kittens for several hours while searching for food, water or a safe place. Removing healthy kittens can unintentionally separate them from their mom and the care they need most.

If you find kittens:

• Watch from a distance.

• Before intervening, give the mother cat an opportunity to return.

• Do not move the kittens unless they are in immediate danger.

Only intervene if you notice signs of illness, injury, danger or distress.

• If intervention is needed, call DPS Animal Protection Services at 702.229.6444, option 2 or The Animal Foundation’s Pet Support Hotline at 702.760.PETS (7387).

Kittens have the best chance of survival when they remain with their mother. Mother's milk, warmth, grooming and protection are nearly impossible to replace.

The best rescue is often giving mom the chance to come back.

When in doubt, wait it out and call for guidance before you scoop them up.

Hurricane warning canceled. 🚨

The forecast tonight calls for a strong chance of Knights goals and a 100% chance of Vegas fans being louder than the weather. ⚔️🏒
