The second week of LHSP's "Bring Your Own Lunch" summer lecture series continued yesterday with summer park interpreter Rich Padova's presentation, "Methuen's Early History as it marks its 300th Anniversary (1726-2026)." With input from Methuen historian Joe Bella, attendees were treated to fascinating facts about Methuen, from the arrival of the "Great Organ" at Memorial Music Hall to the departure of the George Washington statue from Saint Monica School to Forest Lawn Cemetery in Los Angeles. The lunch series continues next Wednesday, June 24th, with local historian Tom Spitalere's presentation entitled "Haverhill and the American Revolution." We hope to see you there!

Visitor Services Supervisor Becca Morris has released the June calendar, which features many fun activities for next month.

First, welcome back Rich Padova for his 22nd year as LHSP's summer park interpreter. In addition to offering walking tours on the Great Stone Dam, the Campagnone Common's diverse monuments and memorials, and poet Robert Frost, visitors can drop by on Sunday and join the fiber arts circle to learn how textiles are made. Rich's weekly popular lunch talk series begins on June 10th. And don't forget to check out the calendar's SPECIAL EVENTS section for more offerings .

Lawrence Heritage State Park is a valuable resource that is free for everyone. But it needs your support. With the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) experiencing some of its biggest budget cuts in years, it's important that we continue to involve ourselves in the park as much as possible. You can help simply by visiting, participating in events, and spreading the word. We want this special place to remain well into the future.
