The Shared Clinical Model turns experienced RNs into Certified Clinical Practice Instructors through an accelerated pathway designed to strengthen rural health care. Nurses take the lead in educating students through care planning and evaluation.

By removing financial barriers and providing expert guidance, this model builds a sustainable pipeline of nursing talent for rural communities.

Nebraska is lucky to have a hospital leader like Mike Dewerff, who brings over 30 years of experience in health care administration, financial acumen, and a strong commitment to patient care to the Nebraska Hospital Association Board. As the Chief Financial Officer for Bryan Health, Mike has been a fierce advocate for Nebraska's hospitals and the communities they serve.

He has been instrumental in efforts to protect Medicaid Retroactive Eligibility Coverage, fighting to safeguard coverage that prevents catastrophic medical debt and helps ensure hospitals can remain financially stable while providing 24/7 care to all who walk through their doors, and Prior Authorization Reform, working to streamline administrative hurdles and reduce delays so staff can focus on delivering excellent patient care.

Thank you, Mike, for your dedication to a healthier Nebraska!

For rural Nebraska and hospitals like York General, the Shared Clinical Model is nothing short of transformative. Students are able to train in the communities where they are most needed, increasing the likelihood that they will remain there after graduation. By removing bottlenecks in clinical education, the Shared Clinical Model is expanding both capacity and access across the state.

Across Nebraska, the health care workforce is a cornerstone of community wellbeing, and one of our most pressing challenges. The Nebraska Shared Clinical Model and Nurse Internship programs are moving the needle on addressing those challenges, but we need to keep the momentum going. Our hospital partners are relying on workforce investments to make sure these projects continue to thrive.

A huge thank you to the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services and the Nebraska Center for Nursing for supporting these truly impactful initiatives. Through strategic partnerships, innovative education models, and targeted investments, we are building a comprehensive workforce pipeline that starts early, supports students through training, and connects them to long-term careers in Nebraska communities.
